In order for the congressman or senator to help you have to fill out a concent form. You can fax or mail it back to them.

Togetherforever13,

Thank you for your kind words and prayers. This month marks 15 months in AP for us. I don't know how I survive each day without my husband. Sometimes I feel like I will lose my mind if I hear pending AP another time from DOS. It does give me hope when I see people getting their visas. Pakistan is famous for long AP's and I don't understand why.

My senators office didn't want to help me so I ended up using my congressman's office. They send an email to the embassy every few weeks. I hope we all come out of AP soon.

I googled congressman for my zip code. Then had to figure out which one it was. Went to his website. Filled out consent form to give permission to maje a congresaional inquiry. Wrote me and husbands,name... Cro number. Stated facts of interview jan and placed in ap and no further info given. I would appreciate a congressional inquiry. Thank you and phone number faxed to them

I feel your pain I am in 1 month I already contacted my 2 senators and any congressman I found in NY. One congress man already answer me

PS. congress man Peter king He wrote:

"Thank you for u recent correspondence requesting your difficulty with the American Embassy in Turkey.

The Bronx area is represented in congress by the Honorable Jose Serrano. Therefore, I have forwarded your correspondence to congressman Serrano. This is a followed by every member of Congress which enables each other of us to better serve his or her own constituency.

I am sure you will hearing from congressman Serrano soon"

Peter Kings office was great to us. Our situation was very different and very critical. The embassy had lost her sons file, would not let us make an interview appointment and we had all of 2 months to get him here before he aged out at 21. He fixed it ( well his office, I doubt any of these people do this personally). Within 3 days we had a letter from the embassy asking us to come in. So contacting your congressman is always a good idea. I think the reason many VJer's say to wait a bit is that if you are in AP, most times USCIS will not give them any more info than what you have already. And often as well, if you are within any kind of normal processing times, well then...you are still within normal processing times. And I have heard about some stories about congressmen getting a bit miffed because someone simply did not have the patience to wait their turn.

I would like to know why people wait 5-6 months to contact their congressman while waiting in Administraive Processing after the interview?

Who said we have to wait?

If you have a great active legal immigration Congressman then I say have him put his name on your file.

The FBI states 99% of background checks are completed by 120 days (that is 4 months)--so why wait 5-6 months?

The FBI states 80% of background checks are done in 72 hours. So why wait 5-6 months?

The embassy websites (sometimes) state most AP is resolved in 2 months. So, why wait 5-6 months?

Anyone have a real reason instead of just because VJ said so?

My congressman has helped me already. I contacted him after 5 weeks. His immigration assistant Bonnie has helped comfort me and calm me. I faxed the form to them with our full names and case number with a short desription of our interview dat and AP. Within 3 hours she had called me and said she contacted DOS and Congressmans name would be on our file. Stated when the AP is at 60 days she will contact them again for me. Then stated when AP is over she will contact the embassy daily until they release the visa. Hopefully my husband will have his visa soon. and I am sure he will!

Well I hope this guy does right by you. But read what you wrote. No where do they say they will or can shorten the timeline. Only inquiry about your status. And I seriously doubt they will be calling every day. And once AP is over, the visa is typically released pretty quickly any way. Being there to help you through this by trying to relieve your stress however, is a very good thing. BTW. Gray Goose and Jack Daniels work well also.

It is done already.

Ap completed 12 days after Congressmans Inquiry.

They told my husband to check back in 14 weeks which usually means a REALLY long wait. So I got the Congressman involved and now my husband has his visa.

I will never know if AP would have been completed without the congressional inquiry or if the inquiry made them move quicker. But I know I feel Cairo would have held his background check for awhile if the congressman did not put his name on our file.

Either way-My husband has a VISA!!!!!!!!!

Thank you!

We are ! BTW. They never found the file. It was sent back to Washington ( A BIG ERROR on their part )even though his name was plastered all over the place as a K2 to follow. They had to create an entire new file. what a hassle.

Well, I know is not a short term on AP. I just want straight answers from Embassy and Dos. I believe my congressmen and senators can get the "Truth", after that I can deal with it.
