JNENG, yes those are sort of the same documents I'm planning on submitting, plus my driver's license. Unfortunately I don't have my voter registration card or kids to enroll into school, but I do have some bank accounts and a car title. I didn't think about the SSN card....would that help too? It's a good idea to get moving estimates, even though in the end I know we won't hire a moving company (so expensive!) and we'll just come with the clothes on our back, hehe. Another piece of advice I saw on a board is sending a copy of a resignation letter to your current employer. I am not planning on resigning before my husband gets his visa, but maybe I can send the copy of the letter and submit it to my employer later down the road...

Mariay.....I'm wondering what you are planning on doing in this case, since it seems like you have been living abroad longer than most of us!

It would be nice to have a dedicated group for USC filing abroad - like the country groups. Can that be done?

I agree with that. It would have been extremely helpful for me when I was putting together my I-130; there were so many situations in which I was the exception to the rule, and getting all that straight took a huge amount of time. It would have been nice to have a direct location where I could ask people who had been in the same position before.

Does anyone else think this could be helpful? Perhaps a moderator could tell us what the possibilities are for this option?

Congrats, JNENG, that's fantastic!

I agree with both JNENG and chaine1 that it would be really helpful if we could make a group for those of us filing from abroad. Anyone know how to do this?

For those of you who listed both foreign addresses as well as domestic (US) where did you place which?

For example, did you put your US address on the i-130, and the foreign addresses on the g-325a??

Was there anyone who has been residing (legally) abroad for a while and did not include their foreign address at all?

Well, if you read the answers to the survey, you'll see that ALL members who got expedited listed their foreign address on all forms in the I-130 package. So far, it seems to be the key to be expedited.

If you do not include your foreign address, there's just no way you will be expedited.

The only box in the I-130 form where you have to give a US address is "Address where the alien intends to live". We gave my in-laws address and I think others proceded the same way.

Wow! I had a double brain fart, my apologies -

I meant (brain fart #1) to say was there anyone who did not use their DOMESTIC address on any forms, which is answered by brain fart #2, the only people who did not, were not expedited. can I erase my post so it does not waste space?

Also - as far as reestablishing domicile, I plan on also using my receipt for payment of and the actual teaching certificate in my state. I wonder if other professions (lawyers, docs, nurses, cpas, etc) who are required to maintain/recertify, test or do other expensive transactions in order to practice their profession could use this as evidence of domicile. Why else would I have paid the amount I just shelled out if I was not going to actually go home and work? It´s logical to me, but that is not that same as being logical to the government. Thoughts?

Also - check with your local elections office about voting records. If I am not mistaken, the document asks for records, and not registration. In my county for example, I can print out a record of my voting activity (which elections with dates, etc) that shows I have been an active voter through for x years through absentee ballot. I can get mine online, but i called and they said they could also print and put an offical seal on it and then mail it to me no prob. I plan on bringing my card and my voter history, Ifigure it can´t hurt.

Sorry to hijack!

Guys,

For what I've been seen its just the legally residents in a foreign country who got the cases expedited, right?

So if the person its not legal, or with a tourist visa like this case above its not a case for expedition?

My husband its living with me and my foreign country but we are not sure if its better to put his address from the U.S in the form G325a and in the intent address the U.S one, or put both the U.S address.

It might make a difference in the waiting process, so I wanted your opinion.

Thanks a lot

The person you quoted said they did NOT list their foreign address on the I-130. That automatically puts you in the non-expedited queue. It's up to you really; we don't really know for sure how the auto-expedite works. But if I were you, I would put the foreign address. Good luck!

Just to make it clear, when you said that you would put the foreign address in the forms do you mean all forms: I 130 and G325A, or just one of them?

I thought that maybe the address in the I130 his address of residence and in the G325A his address he has been living, or its the same thing?

Thanks a lot again!
