hey guys I'm in basically the same situation as jworld34 so here's my question:

As far as filing the I-130 from brazil it would be filed to a lockbox here in the U.S. right? would I need to go to the embassy in brazil to file it? Wouldn't it just need to be mailed?

We sent everything from Brazil. We sent our I-130 from Brazil and got our NOA2 in 11 days. We sent everything to Chicago Lockbox.

This is great if all USC that live abroad will be expedited. But unfortunately I don't think that will be the case :( Some are lucky I guess?! Or maybe I am wrong?

Canada doesn't seem to count - There is also a new question about if the transferring of cases to NBC will mean no more expediting. VisaJourney is a small sample but this thread shows the consistency. I can say one thing for sure - You have a way better chance of getting expedited if you are a USC abroad.

You must live in the country legally for your case to be expedited?

I don't know - I live legally abroad but I was never asked for any proof so I can't see how that is factored in.

1. Country USC resides in: Used DPO address (like FPO/APO)... not sure if they count that as abroad for the expediting.

2. Is there a USCIS field office in this country / Is DCF still possible? No

3. When did you file the I-130: September 11, 2012

4. How long had you been living abroad: Several years

5. Do you reside in the country legally? Yes

6. What is the reason for your residence: Working

7. Did you list your foreign address on all forms in I-130 package? Listed DPO on all addresses except for where will we live

8. Did you send I-130 package from abroad? No. Brother mailed from the USA.

9. Did you include evidence of your residence abroad in the I-130 package? Yes.

10. Did you mention the fact you reside abroad in the cover letter or write a letter describing your current situation and the evolution of your relationship with your spouse (mentioning your residence abroad)? Yes, though explained that beneficiary and petitioner live in different countries abroad.

11. Has your case been "auto-expedited"? Doesn't seem like it. NOA-1 on September 15... no word on NOA-2. When look-up case, it says "initial review."

12. Service Center? CSC

Would anyone be able to tell me how to see that a case has been "touched", etc? When I look it up, all it says is "initial review" without any other information about when various things, such as NOA-1, happened. Thank you.

Have there been any cases of being expedited after being routed to NBC?? Anyone out there??

I was really hoping to be expedited - put down our foreign addresses, but now am a little worried and haven't seen any examples of anyone getting routed to NBC and expedited..

Got NOA1 yesterday so I am crossing my fingers for a speedy NOA2!

Mine is also routed to the NBC, NOA1 date of 10-10-2012. Haven't received a NOA2 yet. Why do we have the NBC instead of the normal service centers, does anybody know that? Is there still hope that it will get expidited?

It is explained here.. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=c3c7ca7c5fed9310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=e7801c2c9be44210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

Looking at other peoples timelines in my country it looks like almost everything who filed from abroad before Aug 15th WAS expedited and those after have still not received NOA2 - so I don't have much hope at this moment yet and have accepted the fact that we will probably NOT be expedited :(

Hopefully we can at least get NOA2 within the normal 5 month timeframe though. I can live with that but I'm really hoping it's not LONGER for some reason!! we have a big wedding "celebration" planned in the US for september 21, 2013, which I thought would be WELL within a feasible timeframe, but now who knows anymore!

at least, life in chile is pretty good. :)
