Hi VJ Members,

My Fiance went for her Interview to Mumbai Consulate on Jan 12 2012.

Everything went well and she was told"EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD".

She was missing her PCC(Police Clearance Certificate) from the passport office,so she was given the 221(g) white form with the PCC line check marked "only" and was told to submit the PCC with the passport to VFS.

On Feb27th 2012 she submitted her passport along with the PCC.

Its been 21 days and we haven't gotten the passport back from the consulate.

Can someone please tell me how much time does it take for the passport to come back in the mail ??

Someone please help me on this because I am really getting frustrated now...

Thanks,

Charles

It seems strange that it is taking longer time for your case in Mumbai Consulate for just PCC.

In my case, in Mumbai Consulate, process was quick enough. I first submitted the doc, then was asked to submit passport then again one more doc, all together 3 doc process, and it all took around 18 days timeframe ( including holiday, sat/sunday ). It was pretty fast, and more than I could expect.

Call to DOS (202) 663-1225 , and check the status for your visa application.

I spoke to DOS and they said its under Admin Processing...

I don't get it at all...How can they change it to admin processing later when initially they only asked for PCC...

Because if its admin processing they normally should return the passport or is it just an internal terminology they use when they even ask for documents??...

really confused now...

Admin processing is common word to be used by DOS, whenever your application is under review. Thats mean, they are verifying the doc, so that is why they used the word " admin processing ". Nothing to worry about that.

When I submitted my last doc on Monday, March 5th, and when I called to DOS on Wednesday, then they told me that it is under review - admin processing, then on Friday, I called to DOS, then was told that it is approved.

Finally my fiancee received her Passport today with a yellow packet..

It took a total on 28 days after she had submitted the passport to the consulate to get it back..

Thanks much for your help.

Thanks
