This process ia so frustrated as is and then the embassy makes it worse. I can not understand how the people at the embassy are so lazy and have an" I Dont Care Attitude". They cant even answer simple questions but yet are giving positions to interview people and decide their life for them. I know not all employees are same but most working at the embassy are. Im frustrated because I called DOS and was told of my interview date and also that my packet 4 (interview appointment letter) was mailed on March 1,2012. As of this day I still have not received the letter and the medical can not be done without a letter. I called them and was told to email, so I emailed and I get the standard reaponse advising me of my interview date but nothing about the letter which is why I emailed to begin with. Anyone in similar situation tell me what I can do now. I need the letter so medical can be done. Any help is appreciated. Sorry for long post, i also needed to vent a little :).

maybe printing out the email will be enough to get the medical because it shows your interview date?

My 2 cents: package # 4 really will state what documents you need to bring in the interview, a questionnaire that you may need to fill out (candidate) and instruction of doctors and few other Mumbo-jumbo on interview related instruction, date & time and etc. Email may not be the best option at this moment, so Please pick up the phone. Don't worry about the doctors as those designated doctors are pretty good with quick appointments an completing the procedure.

The biggest challenge is that neither USCIS or DOS or the embassy has accountability or jurisdiction over each other. As you stated their attitude is really "I don't care", and you can't really blame them for this. First of all that's the natural human instinct, won't care as it is not their problem, secondly you are partly dealing with a non-American (one of them) as such they can get away with murder, that's the attitude. However the local embassy employees (Bangladeshi employees) have even a worse attitude.

Anyway should no spit anymore venom. Don't worry, Just call from here and have your fiancé call the embassy. Did you not get an email also as package 4? Just curious!!!!!

Yes they sent me an attachment of 4 pages with the email which is a scanned version of P4 appointment and all necessary document.

I don't fully blame the local embassy staff at Dhaka or the Consular Officer, we the applicants are to some extent responsible

Yes. Applicants are 100% responsible to do their part and should take responsibility for their mistakes; however my point was even if there wasn't any mistake and applicants have done their things properly, there are many instances where applicants suffered miserably. The outcome wont' be the same for 2 candidates in similar condition. You and I could submit our IR1/CR1 application the same day, but the NOA2 may happen on different time, we may get approved by USCIS the same day, but can come out of NVC on different dates, we can get NVC approval the same day, but can get different interview date, we can have interviews in the same day presenting similar documents but can get completely different results....... I do understand all cases are different, but these differences I am referring are so mind boggling that it makes no sense at time. Even though my brief interaction with the embassy was very little and positive, sweet, but I’ve heard and seen bad examples. Someone told me once, you can hate the lawyers, think of them as scums or what not, but when something will go severely against you and the only place where you can have a solace is from the legal system, you will learn to look at a law profession differently. Similarly, I guess once you experience/see the pains and suffereings of thisred-taped bureaucratic process, you will not love these involve parties as much

My fiance did call the embassy since we could not get it resolve through emails and was told to inquire only via email, so thats y I been emailing. They did send me a packet 4 but it only tell u wat to bring to the interview and also about where to get medical, pay visa fee and about passport photo studios. The scanned documents has nothing that says anything about interview time. My fiance printed out the body of the paragraph in the email that varified the interview date and went to the doctor and to the bank to pay the fees, both places told him that he need the actual appointment letter and not an email to pay fee and do medical. I have tried everything from my part by emailing and calling. My fiance will just go to the embassy and see if something can be done.

Hello, My fiance was in a similar situation like you before his interview but he was able to get his medical and pay his fees using the attached documents in the email and the email copy with his interview date and time. He received the actual package in the mail exactly one week prior to his interview date, which I thought was ridiculous because it would have been impossible for us to complete all required documents in just one week prior to the interview, considering everything runs late in Bangladesh! To top it off, I received the same documents/notification via mail here in the US two days after my fiance's interview date.

Me&Him: vthis is probably the best suggestion you've got so far, from PurpleBlue. Correct me if I am wrong, but your fiancé probably printed out part of the mail in a separate document and page, which can be done by anyone. So as PurpleBlue mentioned, tell him to print out the whole doc with case number and interview date and time and this may work. Fortunately the doctor my wife went to see had a common name and I am sure she didn't get any favor out of it :-).

If your fiancé/husband is worried about sharing information with strangers, let him know these doctors need these info as they will send the result to the embassy. They are embassy nominated. Your hubby should carry the receipt with him on interview and I there is any delay, he can prove that he did his part.

Good luck and thanks to PurpleBlue for an appropriate suggestion.

Thank u. He did print the whole thing inclidung the case number and names. He also printed out wat I send him so they can match and see its the same case number and applicant. Embassy also replied to my last email and also told me to print email and take it for medical. So now I will have him print this reply also so the doctor can see that the embassy advised him to do the same. The embassy also said if letter is not received by interview date, then to bring the email on the day of the interview. Thank u for all the help. Espacially hellraiser for always helping me and purpleblue for the information and and ur advise. I really appreciate all the help. Thank u

PrupleBlue and me&him; I am flattered and flabbergasted with these kind words :-). Please stop it or else people would think we are either relatives or I bribed you to say such nice words ;-)

Please know this; neither am I not trying to guide anyone, nor am I providing suggestions/directions, but simply sharing my experiences. I had my share of bad/tough times and really got some great suggestions/help/lift from complete strangers on this site. I know I may never have the chance of saying thanks to those, but they provided great support/solace just when I needed it the most. And by the way, fortunately I didn't suffer much. I don't think sharing my experience or giving some idea on what I've seen or heard is going to provide any help to many, but may give some idea.

For speeding up on AP, I have no idea how long this may take. I know one "Rozi" who is going to be in her 5th month on AP, where as someone else "Farzin" came out of it in around 2 months. As far as I understood, there are different levels/requirement types on AP. Your case may stay in Bangladesh only, can be sent to DOS (USA), can be only name check or more than that and god knows what else is there. What I've seen so far, 4-5 months is the standard timeline for usual AP candidates. There is very little/or nothing you can do to speed it up. I've suggested few that as soon as you hit the 5 months mark and if you haven't heard anything from embassy/DOS, reach out to your local Senators. Reach out to both in every possible way, phone, fax, email or even physical presence so that the senator's office can launch an inquiry. Keep in mind, they will just send an inquiry but that's the extent of it.

Tough, but that's what it is even though this sucks :-(

Dear Hellraiser and Rumy: Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and additional information. I call DOS every week and its the same response. They r not much of a help except informing that we r still in AP. I have already reached out to my local congressman and they were very prompt and emailed Dhaka Embassy the same day I was there, however, the administrator at the congressman's office clearly explained to me what we all already know about AP that it is unpredictable and the embassy does not give specific information in regards to AP. So, Dhaka emailed back to my congressman explaining what I was already told by the administrator that my case is under AP and it is necessary to complete this proceudre for the safety and security of the Unites States and bla bla bla.... The administrator suggested that I email Dhaka in a monthly basis and if I dont hear from Dhaka then I should contact the congressman again and they will follow up with the embassy. Hope my experience will help further help those who r in AP....
