Got my RFE 2 months after filed I-130?

Just got my RFE today! I know some people may not see that as exciting, but it is for me because I wasn't expecting it at ALL this early. My wife and I were married in Canada in late December, however Ontario has a policy in which they will not produce marriage certificates until 10 weeks after your marriage. We did not want to delay the process 10 weeks, so we decided to send in the application and be in the "queue" and then when they send us an RFE we mail in the marriage license. I filed my I-130 in January and got my NOA1 on January 10th. I got my marriage license this week, and was NOT expecting to hear back from CSC until July or later. Today we got an RFE asking for the marriage license! I don't know how...but 2 months for an RFE is AMAZING.

Is it normal that I got an RFE only 2 months after I filed my I-130? My wife is Canadian, so not really a high immigration fraud country, but I thought it really doesn't matter, everyone waits the 6+ months for NOA2? Also, both my wife and I were born in Syria (we are naturalized citizens - I am US and she is Canadian). Maybe the recent political instability in Syria might have caused them to expedite? I really have no idea, I'm just grateful that this happened to us so soon!

From what I understand (if everything is good) I can get an NOA2 after I mail in my RFE within 1-4 weeks right? If so...whats the earliest I can expect an interview date?

Good luck to everyone else still waiting as well!

Why would the instablility in Syria cause an expedite to a Canadian citizen? That simply doesn't make sense.

But we did the same thing, got in the queue then got the RFE, you're lucky, we waited 5 months to get ours.

And RFE is not an approved petition, while I hope your approval comes quickly, you may still have to wait.

Also, not sure if this could happy but additional background checks might be necessary for someone from Syria

Good luck

There is no rhyme or reason to why the government does something but most indications suggest that the likelihood of administrative processing is pretty high. The Administrative Processing forum has some cases of people who are second generation citizens but just because of their names or their parents native countries they were placed in Administrative Processing. Sure it seems unfair but it is happening.
