I-134 question

Hi,

we still have plenty of time, but I'm gonna start preparing my fiancee for this now :) I have a few questions regarding the I-134 that has to be presented at the time of interview at the embassy.

- Is there any expiry date for the I-134 that has been filled out? Is there a rule that, for instance, the form should be filled out no earlier than e.g. 6 months before the interview? I need to know the time constraints.

- My fiancee will have a co-sponsor - her mom. Does that mean I need two forms, or is her mom the only one to fill out the I-134? (I know that for I-864 they both need to, not sure about I-134)

- What supporting documents do they need to send with I-134? Forms 1040? W-2's? IRS Transcripts? Pay stubs? How many? Originals or copies?

Cheers!

There's a handy-dandy guide for that: http://www.visajourney.com/content/support

Okay,

this answers my question as of who should file the I-134 (both fiancee and her mom). This, unfortunately, does not answer the other two questions :(

Cheers!

For your first question, the tip in the main K-1 guide is to send that once the NOA2 has been received. On what to send, that information is included in the I-134 instructions PDF.

My question regarding the time constraints is a result of the fact, that it would be so much easier for me to help them fill out the forms, collect all the information and take the signed forms with me back home. I'm not sure if that's gonna be after or before my NOA2.

Cheers!

Sorry but it needs to be after the NOA2. If you do all that too soon you will get an RFE for new forms and evidence because the signatures and dates are too old.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

If it's just a matter of helping them understand how to fill out the forms and ensuring they know what supporting materials to include before you leave, you can do that, but then once the NOA2 is received, they can make sure the information is still correct, sign the docs and send them off to you.

If the NOA2 doesn't arrive before your departure, they'll need to mail you a copy of the NOA2 anyway, so you'll still be waiting to get documentation from them.

sorry, I have a question that is not related to this topic, but I saw in your timeline that your first packages was lost, how did you find out about it? did USCIS send you a message? I'm afraid that could've happened to us and we don't know about it... but I keep my fingers crossed so our filing is ok. Thanks for sharing your experience.

if my usc fiance is doing the I-134 and he doesn't need a co-sponsor, does he sign the form on the bottom of page 2? OR is that space only for the co-sponsor?

We called USPS as what was supposed to be a 3-day delivery, hadn't been updated in a long while. We got a case number, then another case number, we kept calling, we got info it got lost.

Regarding the I-134 - I don't think that the consulate issues RFEs :bonk: It might however reschedule and tell us to bring proper documentation. Oh well, I guess I'll do as suggested. Pre-fill out the form and then let them sign it when NOA2 arrives.

Additionally to what you got here:

Watch out for packet 3, once you get NOA2, keep track of things (look/search for the 'DHL trick' here). Packet3 from Embassy sometimes is lost. BTW, you don't need to wait for it at Warszawa, once you know (DHL trick) your petition is there, you can send it right away; all the forms and instructions are in the Warszawa Embassy site, inclusive to the list of approved doctors for the medical etc. FYI, also need to do X-ray and STD tests.

Notably, instructions in Polish and English have one big difference, one calls for the I134 being notarized, the other does not. We did, as we had time to do it. Other couples that were going in the process about same time as us, did. I know of at least one that did not (but they were from Ukraine who also interviews in Warszawa); they reported no problem.

Also, interview is fairly simple and short, you are done within 5 minutes (at least we were and other couples reported same times)

There is no place on an I-134 specifically for a co-sponsor to sign, so I am a little confused by your question. Your fiance fills out and must sign and date his I-134.

If you were using a co-sponsor, they would fill out their own separate I-134.
