Hello VJ Friends,

I haven’t had my visa interview yet (it is on April 17th), however, I wanted to know, hopefully after I get a visa, how much time I have before I need to arrive in the USA? I read somewhere it said 6 months. Is it true?

Thank you,

J&N

When issued, the visa is typically valid for six months. This has been known to change but shouldn't be less than six.

As soon as you receive your passport, with the visa stamped, please read it carefully and look for:

  • Any type of error. Make sure all your information is correct.
  • Visa expiration date. You'll have to enter the States before that expiration date and get married in 90 days (counting from the day that you'll set foot in US soil)

Like photomile said, they are typically issued for 6 months; but there have been cases in which the expiration date was 3 .. so be very careful and read your stamp good.gif
