with reference to Form I-864A, Part 2, page 7 of 7

Line 13 asks for a 'number'

reads as follows

I, THE SPONSOR __________________ (print name) in consideration of the household member's promise to support the following intending immigrant(s) and to be jointly and severally liable for any obligations I incur under the affidavit of support, promise to complete and file an affidavit of support on behalf of the following _____________ (indicate number) named intending immigrant(s) (see Step-by-Step instructions)

which number are they asking for ?

Also in part 3,

I, the household member, ________________ (print name) in consideration of the sponsors promise to complete and file an affidavit of support on behalf of the above __________(number from line 13) named intending immigrant.

What number are they asking for?

Why are you filling out I-864A and not I-864? They are asking for the number of people you are sponsoring in the affidavit, but without some context it is hard to answer.

How many immigrants are you sponsoring? Who is this for? Do you live with your mother? Does she claim you as her dependent on her tax return? Still not enough info.

The first part is for YOU the sponsor to fill out and sign. The intending immigrant is your wife. The number is 1.

The second part is for your mother to fill out and sign. The number is 1, for your wife, the intending immigrant.

I had the issue. Enter in the number, people, you are sponsoring. Then enter all of their names on Part 2. Add how many are being sponsered and place that number on Part 2. Also the next part under household member. See the example I have attached.

hi cboy

no, you file the i864 as sponsor, your aunt files another i864 as joint sponsor and her husband files the i864A, the contract is between your aunt and uncle, not you

they are combining their income

Did you ever find out who's name you had to put? I'm on the same boat.

This was covered in post #5 of this thread. I think people get confused with this because some think a joint sponsor fills out this form. The I-864A is not used by a joint sponsor. The I-864A is a contract between the sponsor/joint sponsor filling out the I-864 and a qualifying household member to allow their income/assets to be combined with those of the sponsor's on their I-864. Part 2(Sponsor's Promise) and 3(Household Member's Promise) of the I-864A is signing the contract between the two.

Part 2 #13 states 'I, THE SPONSOR', and so that is where the sponsor filling out the I-864 puts their name. Then if it is just for 1 intending immigrant listed on the I-864, you put a 1 where it says to '(indicate number)'. List the intending immigrant's name and info on line a. The sponsor then signs and dates the form where it asks on #14.

Part 3 #15 is for the household member filling out the I-864A. They put their name and also indicate the number of immigrants. They sign and date where it asks on #16.
