I need a calling card to make calls

from England to the USA.

What kind of stores sell those in England?

Presumably you mean a SIM?

Tesco

WH Smith

The list goes on and on and on and on

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

No I don't think so.

A sim goes into a mobile phone right?

I mean a calling card, or an international calling card.

I use my mobile, otherwise you would set a landline up on line, no need for a shop.

We share my husband's mobile phone but it's super expensive to

call 800 numbers on it (like USCIS customer service) so I was

hoping they still sell calling cards so I could just go to

the payphone down the street and call them.

How do you set up a landline online? Is it free?

Often costs less to call the US than a local UK call.

Not 800 numbers ... it's like £2 a minute. But I have

no idea why my case was transferred to a 'local office'

and most folks are suggesting I call USCIS customer

service to find out.

It just seems my hands are tied here!

Most 'corner' shops sell international calling cards. Failing that, have a look at some of the sim cards you can order online that are geared up for international calling - you can then just swap the sim when needed?

Skype is what I use right now. I pay a subscription and it lets me call US landline and mobile numbers, as well as landlines in many other countries. I think I pay @ £8 a month, so so?

Well, it's hard to use online services lately

because we don't have a bank account or credit/debit

card to pay with.

But we do have a couple corner

shops around and I'll be sure to ask them next

time I pop in for milk :star:

That sounds right up my alley!

Do you have a link or know where those are sold?

Thank you!

I get them from a corner shop in Camden town. Just go to any shop and ask for euro card or dolphin is also good.

If your gonna get a cheap mobile phone, research for international calls online. Get your husband to get Vonage (phone company) in US. Call from USA to UK landline is something like 4 cents a minute, and 34 cents from US to UK mobile. It's best to leave it for your husband to call the USCIS from USA side. Other than than, you can try International cards or even using computer to chat.

Currently somewhere in USA now.

Before i got an international dialing plan on my mobile (which is fantastic btw! all you have to do is top up every month and they give you free international mins..the more you top up the more you get..no contract!) I used the international dialing cards from Tesco. I made the mistake of using my mobile to call tho.. make sure if you do that to use a payphone or a landline so you dont get charged a crazy ammount!
