Hi,

My wife and I are gonna fill out the I-751 and send it within the next 2 weeks.

My only concern is we only have joint accounts, cell phone bills, tax return 2010 and 2011 and DL with same address and copy of car insurance card. All of those with both names. And 4 affidavits from family and pictures.

No mortgage or rent.

Will it be enough?

Thanks for your help

How about some joint Credit Cards, pictures of you together, with your friends.... Joint health insurance, showing your wife as the beneficiary on your insurance and things like that. The more you can provide the better.

We don't have morgage or rent either. We live in my grandmothers basement. That being said, she's going to write up an official letter with details as to how long we've lived here and stuff like that. And have it notarized. In theory it will be an afadavit, but we'll use it like a rental agreement (in which we pay nothing).

Here's the thing: affidavit's and holiday cards are secondary evidence -because like you said, they can be faked quite easily. However, when you are lacking in primary evidence (like bank account statements, rental agreements, car titles in two names, etc) then additional secondary evidence is probably a good idea. You MUST have at least a couple pieces of primary evidence, but again, where there are holes, secondary evidence is good. I'd strongly recommend having your FIL write up a NOTARIZED affidavit saying how long you've been living with him. That he sees you daily and that you are a happily married couple. If you chip in around the house with bills or pay some sort of rent, have him put it in there too. For example, my SO and I pay half of the electricity at my grandma's house (but no rent).

Examples of primary evidence:

Tax transcripts

bank account statements

official letters from bank showing when you opened account and that you are JOINTLY on the account

copy of credit cards in each name for same account

health and car insurance cards

life insurance coverage showing SO as beneficiary

copy of driver's license showing same address

Copies of "official mail" (like utility bills or government mail) coming to same address in both of your names

Boarding passes or passport stamps showing travel together. Or authentic hotel reciepts and not saying that has been simply printed off the internet

Examples of secondary evidence:

Photos

Affidavit's

Copies of "unofficial mail" coming to same address. When I say unofficial I mean things like magazines and junk mail. I'd say that if you are missing the above primary evidence part of this then you should send something like this

Trip confirmation papers (like web tickets and email confirmations)

Hope this helps
