Looking for a Recipe

Ok ladies I can not for the life of me remember the name of the dish I am craving. I ate it in Morocco on Eid (the sheep killing Eid - again forget the name) - it is some type of a grain that is cooked, kinda resembles a very thick oatmeal with large grains - and is served with olive oil and honey on top of it. I am craving it so bad and my husband is not being a help - he says he can't think of the name either. So if anyone out there can think of it, or can ask your SO and THEY remember the name I would appreciate it! If anyone has a recipe for it that would be even better!

Is it Tamina? That sounds like something I ate with my Algerian fiancee's family...but the name might be different in Morocco.

Well I am not what it is you are exactly talking but I think Chris may be right...tamina (roasted semolina with butter and honey), so if this is what you are talking about then, Here's the recipe for tamina:

500 grams of semolina flour

100 grams of butter

150 grams of honey

1 tablespoon of powdered cinnamon

put the semoule in a pan, cook a little bit until golden, add the melted butter and honey, mix well. Shape into a circle on a platter, sprinkle with cinnamon.

Moroccan Cream of Wheat (Herbel)

this is a favorite dish of Berbers, and, by custom, is eaten on New Year's day.

The new wheat is soaked in hot water for over 24 hrs and then dreained and pounded in a wooden mortar, after which it is sieved, to remove the husks, and cooked a long time (5-6 hrs) over a charcoal brazier. it is then seasoned w/ salt and made creamy w/ fresh milk & butter.

To make it, simmer 1 C whole wheat grains in 4 C water for 3 hrs, adding a little sugar & milk at the end. Dab w/ butter.
