If you feel strongly about re-scheduling, contact them and try. I re-scheduled our interview in Lima, but I know others have had trouble re-scheduling at times. I tend to think it depends on the attitude with which you approach them about re-scheduling. For example, don't say "how COULD you schedule me two weeks from now?! How rude!" Rather, I'd try, "my wife is feeling ill and we would really appreciate a couple more weeks to accomplish the medical and travel arrangements for our family."

Stay positive.

He is the petitioner and he has to be there for the interview! I would be mad also between work and school less than 30 days is so short notice.

How come he has to be at the interview?

Sup Neo,

My wife's friend knows a agency that drives to the capital for this purpose so it's cool, thanks anyway. Had I known they would've done this so fast i would've waited to send everything in. I had called the NVC up last week to inquire about my appointment date, and the women told me they try to give at least a month so people can prepare. Hell, that would've been to close but at least it was more time, but 3 weeks??? We'll see what happens after i call tomorrow. If i can get a May interview, then fine, if not then I'll have to go down on the 29th, because april 2 is on a friggin monday!!! and i wanted to go 2 days before interview(not counting weekends). I'll fly down on the 29th(thur) and come back on weds.

Matt

Best of luck to ya .. keep us posted man .. God knows whats best.. It will all work out fine in the end man.. try no to stress too much

Sup,

Thanks, Me and my wife talked about it, and we're going to stay with this date. I'm really concerned with her having to do all this runniing around now with no heads up and a pregnancy. Despite all that she's calm and ready to do this. I'll definately keep everyone informed.

Hello,

I have no idea how they came up with that. I would think they would give you more time to prepare for the biggest day of your life. The operator told me they try to give at least a month for this, but I guess they slipped up this time.

I have to purchase plane tickets(more expensive now that's it's so close), make the hotel reservations. My wife needs to do her medical and my step-daughter, then travel back in 2 days to get the TB results. I have to put in for vacation i need to take in 2 weeks with no notice to my job and they won't like that it's such short notice and might deny me. I know I sound ungrateful since people are waiting forever just to get their NOA2 and such, but 3 weeks notice for interview is #######!

Matt

on flight. check jetblue they fly all over that part of the world super cheep! also kayak is excellent place to look for cheep tickets. one way might be good is to fly to like miami or tampa and then jet blue there? be creative on this and you will find something cheep! or reasonable!

As a heads-up - I know nothing about the process in DR, but......

Not meaning to add more stress to the situation....but just check out what will happen with your wife's medical if she is pregnant.

I don't know your case - but pregnancy can be a contra-indication for some of the vaccinations (ie you can't have them done while pregnant). So if your wife is missing some of her vaccinations this may be a problem. Also, do they do a chest x-ray at medicals in DR? If so - this could be another issue as again - your wife probably shouldn't be getting an x-ray if she is pregnant. I know that we have to have a chest x-ray in Australia and that they can be done using a lead shield over the belly - but this isn't recommended by Australian medical authorities. In that situation (ie woman can't have x-rays and/or vaccinations) they wont issue a visa until they are done.

Like I said, I don't know DR specifics and I don't mean to add any more stress....but I just wanted to point this out in case it may be a problem for you. If I am wrong and way off-base I sincerely apologise!!!

Having a pregnant woman go through the Medical for a US Visa is more common that one would think.

For the Vaccinations there is a blanket waiver since she won't be able to get them all due to her condition.

For the TB they are other ways to test. I know in the Philippines they will try the TB Skin Reaction Test on kids attempting to not have to x-ray them, I'm sure each country has their own procedure for this situation.

I might be wrong but I thought the chest x-ray was only necessary if the PPD is reactive.
