I have read in posts that the i-134 form used for a k-1 Visa is not legally binding but the i_864 is…. does anyone have any proof that the I-134 isn't legally binding?

My situation is my Aunt who was going to be my Fiance's sponsor just told me tonight that her husband has to many questions about being the sponsor so she can't be my sponsor anymore. I personally only worked half of the year last year and didn't make over the poverty level required so I definitely can't be his sponsor :( My Aunt is willing to be the sponsor but she can't be the sponsor without her husbands approval as to what the form says in the instructions. So.. she has asked me to gather any information to prove that it's not a life-time promise to support him. They are worried that when he gets old and tried to get SSI that it would come back on them and their assets. Can someone help me out with finding where the form won't be legally binding??? Anything helps.. Thanks!!!

The i864 is the legally binding document. It doesn't matter how much/little you worked last year - if you CURRENTLY meet the requirement, you may sponsor him yourself. When it comes time, you'll just need to show proof that you work/earn enough.

Sorry, the wording in the two AOS documents,

the I-864 vs the I-134 -

the I-134 not contain the same verbiage and (IMO) it's not legally binding in the same way that an I-864 is legally binding.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
