So our case expiration date has passed us by, and I called the US Embassy in London to talk to someone about how to extend it. He told me to send a notarized letter stating my continued intent to marry my fiance, which I did a few days later.

Hadn't heard back. It's been like two and a half weeks. I called the Embassy again today, after not receiving anything back in the mail-- they don't have anything on hand saying whether it'd been received or not.

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY-- When my fiance received a letter saying his case had been transferred to London and that he should go about getting a medical exam, police certificate and interview, he was supposed to have received a Package 3 (or Packet 3?) containing the DS230-I, DS2001, DS156, DS157, and Affidavit of Support. He never ever did. We never knew anything about any of those forms, though the very nice lady I spoke to on the form said they'd been sent back in October. I'm not sure if that was some sort of bureaucratic screw-up, a post office screw-up, or my fiance's screw-up. I mean, I suppose it's partially ours for not realizing on our own that there were other documents for us to send, but I thought I'd just sent more than was necessary with my I-129F.

But apparently, despite all of that, our case is still open and it doesn't look like we'll have to start from scratch. Lovely. <3 I was given an e-mail to uh...e-mail, inquiring about the notarized letter, our case expiring and requesting that those forms be resent. Hoping they'll be nice...

I don't really have a question this time, I'm just stressed and venting and wanted to know if anything like this has happened to anyone else re: just not receiving important forms, or other things that have happened during the process weren't necessarily your fault. Sometimes it's nice to know it's not just you.

it is your fiances screw up because the letter he received from the embassy was packet 3 and that tells you what forms to fill out and the website that you should go to. they wont send you the forms... they are found on the website along with full instructions on what to do.

this is the website and the instructions are under "step 1 2 3"... the forms you need are on the right.

http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

i also suggest you read and re-read the NOA2 to interview in London thread.

i dont mean to sound harsh here as i know you have had a few issues since filing the I-129F but both you and your fiance seriously need to get a grip of this situation if you want to make it work.

Oh, I should add (since I'm apparently not allowed to edit?) that I know the documents he needs to fill out are available on the State.gov website, but they appear to have expired on February 29th.

forget the expiry date... use whichever forms are on the website as they are the latest versions and fine to use

Yeah, I did just read about that on the Flowchart. I guess I'd forgotten about it since I last read it. :\ Also, the woman I spoke to on the phone said that the forms SHOULD have been sent with the letter, along with a checklist.

I'll re-read the NOA2 thread.

I'm aware that we sound awfully disorganized, it's just been months since we'd been able to get some of these things done. And we honestly did not know about these forms, for whatever stupid reason.

If we were supposed to find the forms ourselves, then I suppose it really was our ####-up. However, it hasn't really effected anything and I suppose finding out that our case hasn't expired means we can finish everything up now.

this is the thread you need to read through and on page 2 i posted a copy of my letter from the embassy (packet 3). that is all i got... no forms and no check-list any more.

i think what i would do is when you send in the forms DS-156/K etc etc then include another copy of the the notarized letter of intent if you can and make sure to include your "LND" case number on the cover letter. wait a week and then call DOS to check that the embassy have logged in your forms :)
