Unfortunately, I don't think there is any visa out there that is going to make it easy for you to live with your loved one while the paper work is in the work. You will have to return to Canada to wait it out and choose the visa option that is the quickest. Good luck to you.

Actually, if they go and check it with a lawyer, there is an option available for the short term fix (there will be a delay for travel permission) by filing an AOS now.

Alternately, the US/Can citizen may be able to file an I-130 at her Consulate and get the ball rolling that way.

I really think the OP should take all this info and meet with an attorney. Those who know me know I don't say that all the time.
