My fiance went to her interview today. With the Filipino interviewer she said she was asked 3 questions. What is the name of your fiance? What is his birth date? How did you meet? She answered these questions correctly. Then with the consul officer she was asked: How did you meet. She again gave the same answer she provided to the Filipino agent. Then the CO asked my fiance what do I do for work? She answered my fiance is "Compliance Officer" which is correct. The CO then asked her to explain what Compliance Officer mean. Sadly she could not elaborate what my job as compliance officer was. Then the CO officer told her that she cannot tell her if she pass or not. The CO also told my fiance that it seems that she does not know me well. Then my finace was provided a document which state "the case is under administrative review. Wait until you hear from us". No documents was requested. I have a bad feeling that the case will be denied.

Note: her passport and the 2 passport photos were retained by the embassy. Any thoughts....

I'm sorry to hear that. During interviews, you really have to prove that you know your fiancee well and be prepared cuz COs are crazy you really have no idea what question's gonna pop up. I believe you guys will be fine if they retained her passport and pictures then there's a bright side, she might have a second interview thou and might ask her again the same question to check if she knows you more next time. Just tell your fiancee to be more prepared and please do inform her more about you. When I was being interviewed they asked me where my husband was born and what hospital it just happened that I asked him about it the last minute we talked over the phone before going to my interview. Things are really crazy and unpredictable during interviewsss. Have your fiancee a practice interview with you on the phone. We did it and it sounds funny and crazy but we had to. Goodluck and don't worry you guys will be fine!

I think my fiancee was not lucky at all. Even here in the USA when I said to some people that I am compliance officer, they do not understand clearly. I have to go in deep detail. I am so devasted that I could not explain her all it mean compliance officer.

Just explain to her basic details about your job, COs only want to know she knows you more. They are not gonna dig deeper about ur job. She just have to act and talk confidently. You guys will be fine don't worry! ^_^

Any thoughts....

Your case is a good example of why a petitioner should attend their beneficiary's interview.

If I were in your shoes, I would be proactive; email the Embassy's IV Unit and lay it out for them. Let them know that you care, just as any fiancé would.

Tell them the same thing you told us. Tell them you believe you know why your fiancée was put on AR, and that it doesn't seem unreasonable to you that she doesn't know the job duties of a compliance officer because the average American doesn't know either. Tell them that you and your fiancée have known one another for many months/years, that you love her, and that you have a bona fide relationship. Tell them you are in a serious relationship and you are looking forward to getting married. Ask them what more you need to do to convince them that your relationship is real. Ask them for another interview- an interview you gladly will attend.

Email them immediately. Then email them every few days to check up on your case. You can do this.

DO THIS and do not wait. We got placed on Administrative review after the interview on April 13. I went back to the US Embassy at around 2:30PM that same day and left a hand-written letter directed a US Consul and dropped it off personally at the message center. I understand you may not be able to personally do that but the point is, start the communication as soon as you can and call them every couple days. I called them the 16th then again on the 20th when I found out my fiancee's visa has been approved.

Good luck!!!
