US consulate requests police certificates from every place where an applicant lived more than 6 month. I studied in India for 4 years, that was more than 10 years ago, searching the forum I found that indian police authorities do not provide police certificates to non-indians living outside of India. Now what should I do:

1) Get an official letter stating that such certificate can not be provided? Where?

2) Fly to the country to get the certificate??

3) Any other way?

thank you!

You shouldn't need an official letter, as it is stated on the government website: http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9215 If you wanted, you could always print out that page and highlight the relevant section.

Thank you! So all I have to do is to say that the certificate is not available for me and refer to the website link /print out?
