Exactly. They will address the person they want to respond. Personally, at my K-1 interview, my husband (petitioner) was asked the the majority of the questions. I don't think that's a typical experience, however.

Atop every VJ page are links for "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy." If you can't find a definitive answer there, e-mail the Abu Dhabi embassy directly and ask whether it's mandatory, highly recommended, or optional that you be there.

Some might say that Manila is a powderpuff embassy where visas are handed out like candy. The problem with that is that far too many Manila filers offer their experience as "what will happen" everywhere else.

if you are there, even if only for emotional support, it cannot hurt and could be beneficial. I know of one friend whose wife, then fiancee was being questioned pretty hard until she finally said, "if you don't believe me ask him, he is just outside". Visa was approved.

This answer needs to be pinned on its own and enshrined in the pantheon of all-time VJ posts.

We can NEVER know how many borderline interviews were turned into success stories, or how many "certain refusals" were given a second (fighting) chance, all because the petitioner was on the consular premises and the CO was so told.

What better way to convey the "bona fide" legitimacy of a relationship than to hand the USC's passport to the CO?

Yes, they need to stop posting in the K1 forum, only those requiring Manila specific information are allowed to do that!.

While this is certainly true, that is a lot of money (hardship) for the majority of folks that can make a big difference. If a flight could have been gotten for the same price that I paid in October (850$), I'd have done it, but that is not the case any more. You can't honestly say to your fiance: "I bought you cheap."
