Not only did I attend the K-1 interview with my fiance, they interviewed us together, then had me sit down, interviewed her, then had her sit down, and had me go to the window. The IO then proceeded to ask me the exact same questions that he asked my fiance. We both made mistakes on our answers, but we were approved anyways. Imagine that.

You got a Stokes interview, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You're overthinking it. It will be obvious who should respond. They'll direct inquiries to both of you. It will be like a conversation between acquaintances. Go with the flow...

I "pushed, pleaded and begged" to go into the interview with her. She had to bring all three children, and the guards at the consulate saw how difficult it would be to be interviewed and care for the children. I presented myself at the window with her, and offered to help, or even be interviewed. The IO was genial, and had a good attitude with us. I stayed at the window until he asked me to have a seat. We all had a good time, even the kids were treated great. This is a stokes interview?

One that's very "invasive", if you will... they can ask you anything from .. what color panties your fiancee is wearing at the time? or when was the last time you had sex?

Oh, not at all, no man (lucky you, and compassionate you, to help with the kids, si man!). The way you put it above, it sure sounded like one.

Si, man (sigh, man).

Our interview was carried out with respect. One question that he asked us was the last time that we argued. My reason for entering with my fiance was sound. Our youngest was still in diapers, and the other two were so young. No one felt that we were pushy, or invasive. At the time that that we did our K-1, we had not spoke with anyone that was filing for any type of Visa, and did not know about VJ. Our heads were clear, our conscience clean, and we had no preconceptions. We entered happy to finally have our chance to speak with the very person who would decide our fate. Not one time did we have any doubts that we would fail. For us, our interview at the Juarez consulate was merely a formality. It never occurred to us that we would not be successful. We prepared well. We dressed well. Our answers were not rehearsed. For us, it was a pleasurable event.

Tbone had his interview with his fiancee, in Ecuador... apparently, at that Embassy, they are famous for conducting Stokes Interviews.

That's about it, unless the CO directs a question to you specifically.

My fiancee is a filipina living in dubai and so will interview in abu dhabi. Should I the petitioner be there when she has her interview?

I would suggest asking this question in the country specific forum as some embassies won't allow the petitioner even in the embassy.

Yes, they need to stop posting in the K1 forum, only those requiring Manila specific information are allowed to do that!.

I came up with a question. During a K-1 interview (If both petitioner and beneficiary go to it), how do we know who's supposed to answer the questions? I'm talking about, like...

- How did you guys meet?

- How did he propose?

- What do you guys plan to do when you get back?

etc..

Is the CO going to look at whoever he wants to answer the question or can either of us answer?

In our interview I was there only for a part of it. They asked me a few questions then told me to take a seat until they asked for me again. Which they didn't and we passed.

She is applying for the visa and wanting to gain entry to the U.S. Typically she is the one to go, alone, to be interviewed. It is HER interview. Having said that, and as others have stated up thread, sometimes it is allowed for the petitioner to be present. Sometimes mandatory. And sometimes the petitioner is not allowed to be present at all.It is really up to the embassy to make that call. Many folks here will agree that if you are there, even if only for emotional support, it cannot hurt and could be beneficial. I know of one friend whose wife, then fiancee was being questioned pretty hard until she finally said, "if you don't believe me ask him, he is just outside". Visa was approved.
