Arizona Senate's Retirement and Rural Development Committee discussed the prospects for uranium mining in the state. During the hearing, State Senator Sylvia Allen ®, the vice chairman of the committee, argued in favor of mining by saying that the earth "has been here 6,000 years, long before anybody had environmental laws, and somehow it hasn't been done away with." "We need to get the uranium here in Arizona, so this state can get the money from it," argued Allen. Watch it:

Uranium is perfectly safe, hey, it's not like it's radioactive or anything. Allen meant to say 6 thousand million years old, that's what she meant to say.

And it's not like there has ever been a nuclear accident that killed anyone or made a large area too dangerous for human habitation in those 6000 years! Of course her logic must be sound, she is a true believer. (Yes, I know that unrefined Uranium is not capable of 'melting down' )

The scariest part isn't her profound ignorance, it is that making an issue of this would probably get her even more votes the next time around, thanks to all those so-called 'low information voters'!

So if those islands in the middle of the ocean become uninhabitable the residents can sue god? Or at least his representative here on earth? That is how the pope is sometimes described isn't it?
