Hello,

I recently mailed our I-130 packet to the Chicago lockbox and I am waiting now for approval. I was reading the guides on this website and it mentioned

one could file the I-129 for a K-3 visa. I would like to know anyone's experiences and if this is a good route to follow? I'm just trying to research all

the options.

Thanks for any advice!

Nope, not a good choice at all

It is more expensive, takes longer, and rarely ends up with a visa

Good luck, stick with the route you are on and do not file the I129F

I was thinking the IR1/CR1 but I wanted to make sure. Thanks for your advice!

For Egypt that's the only spouse visa available. I-129F is for fiance visa; MUST NOT be married yet.

Don't ever do anything you're not willing to explain the paramedics.

The bold is incorrect. When filed solo, the I129F acts as the petition for the K-1 fiance visa. When filed with the NOA of an I130, the I129F acts as the petition for the K-3 spousal visa - Egypt as nothing to do with it - processed at USCIS.

When I first sent in the I130 for my SO I also filed for the K3 visa too because I heard at the time K3 visas were moving quicker. You can file the I-129f for K3 but it doesn't move any quicker than the CR1 visa. In fact they usually reach the NVC at the same time so the I-129f gets cancelled out and the USCIS pushes the I -130 through to the NVC. Plus with the CR1, you are paying all the fees at the NVC level instead of waiting until your SO reaches the US first.

yea that's not correct i agree u should read more before u give wrong info. but as everybody says CR1 is a lot better and saves u a lot of money. good luck
