Hi,

My wife and son have their interview (IR-1/2) on Wednesday. They actually have an interview time scheduled (8:30).

I've been seeing some posts recommending arriving at 5:30. That seems excessive. But, i've always gone to the front of the line as a U.S. Citizen. What is the proper procedure?

She will have the son that i'm petitioning and our U.S. Citizen daughter with her.

Second question--i remember seeing helpers/relatives in the embassy. Is it ok to bring an adult helper with?

Third question. I haven't found many IR-1 interview experiences posted. I lived in the Philippines for the last 4 years, and we have a U.S. Citizen daughter. So, i'm assuming that proof of relationship won't be a big deal. What is the usual IR-1 interview experience? Just a quick check? An extensive grilling? It varies with the wind?

thanks!

I recommend to go there 4:30 am :) Btw what is her appointment time? Is it 6:30? 5:30 is so late there are plenty of people who fall in line with in that hour about 40-100 people just 6:30 appointment time for applying for immigrant visa.

With my experience , i went there 3:00 which is really good. I got the 6011 number..Then my interview end around 7:45 am  The earlier the better!

Most of the interview reviews I have read stated they went easier if the USC was present. If you live in the Philippines, have you thought about going with them? If so, the USC cannot enter until 7:30 AM, so getting there very early wouldn't seem to benefit much. I'll be going with my wife and son, but we aren't planning on getting there much before an hour ahead of time. I believe the embassy suggests something like 30 minutes before because they supposedly group you by times - also something from a post I read here.

If your appointment is 6:30 then the guard will let you in not about 6:00 am , they will start collecting your docs while falling in line.

In our case Immigrant applicants , it's about 40-100 people who fall in line around 5:45 am

If you will come there around 7:00 am then nah you will fall in line at the end  but it's still up with you guys.

I'm just giving you friendly advice and suggestion base on my experience :)

my appointment was 6:30 i got there a few minutes before 6. there was already a long line (3 lines for immigrant, tourist and seaman i think) make sure you're in the right line. then they called the people with 6:30 appointments and let us in. so i dont think you should go there at 5:30 if your appointment is 8:30. then more people came inside after an hour or two (im thinking they were the 8:30 ones) got done before 11:00 am

Thanks for the replies. Our appointment is at 8:30, so if i'm reading you all correctly, it won't help to go super early. How about getting there at 7?

And, I lived there for 4 years until i returned to the U.S. in June 2011. So, I won't be going to the interview.

Ohhh Thank you for that info,..

So even if I go there at 530am, and my appointment is at 630am

its still ok, coz they do call upon the time of your appointment,...

Thanks for the info...

My Fiancee's appointment is at 6:30 and we don't plan to be there until about 5:30.

That sounds right for me as well,..

My teens and I would probably be at the line at 530am...

besides, according to many here, the guard would call in the

ones with the 630 appointments...

Hi! I had my interview last March 6, 2012 at 8:30am. I was under IR-1 and my son under IR-2. We arrived at US Embassy at around 7:30am. There were only 5 persons ahead of us in the line coz perhaps all the others were already inside the US Embassy. The guard let us fall in line in Immigrants/Fiancee lane. And I also requested if I can accompany my Aunt inside to help me attend to my kid. Then, the USEm personnel just asked me if my child was that difficult to handle? I said, not really but I have to pay attention to the numbers flashing on the board. Perhaps, he was convinced so he let my Aunt in. I even brought with me a bottle of milk for my lil guy. And we were done with our interview at around 10:30am.

I think no need to go there too early since just like us, your scheduled appointment is still at 8:30am. :) Hope that helps.
