We'll my Fiancee entered the US in mid Feb and we just got married. I will send in the AOS paperwork when the marriage license comes back. My question is where cane we go for honeymoon/vacation since she can't leave the country? I don't see a problem going to Hawaii but what about Puerto Rico. I know she'd like that cause she speaks no English. Help!!

Florida?

Puerto Rico is a US territory so no problem there. If, however the flight had to be diverted for some reason to a non-US island, you'd have issues.

Get a nice place in South Beach, Forida. In the Doral and Kendall area are lots of Colombian restaurants and people. Go to South Beach for a great beach. Walk the beach and lots to do at night in Miami Beach. Just about everywhere, you can speak spanish. Or go to Key West... great beach.... great atmosphere... but a little more expensive. Think about it... As long as both of you are together anywhere in the world should be great! You can be very romantic in your own place!

You can go anywhere in the US, as others have stated. If you want to go somewhere more 'exotic' outside the US, then just postpone the honeymoon until she gets her AP or green card from filing AOS.

Ok might reconsider Florida but leaning toward Puerto Rico.

My Wife and I planned on a trip to Puerto Rico, but came up short in the finances. In Mid-May 2010 we had our AOS Interview. By July 1st, 2010 she had her Green Card in hand! We went to Baja, Mexico!! (a 2 hr. drive to the border)

Camping on the beach was a blast!

Shopping in San Felipe - a much slower pace than Santa Marta del Rodadero.

For a little more action, we crossed the peninsula to Ensenada (1/2 day drive), and it was more of the same, but 20 degrees cooler.

Crossing the border was not an issue. In fact, we were told that her Colombian passport WAS NOT NECESSARY PROOF OF IDENTIFICATION at the US Port of Entry in San Yisidro, CA. Only the Green Card. But, while traveling in Mexico, the Mexican Gov't needed a passport to stamp. This is where her Colombian passport came handy.

Our most recent international trip was in January to a children's toy drive for Dia de los Reyes. Once again, no problems returning to the USA.

I was in the Navy for 25 years. Have traveled to over 80 ports. I was not too impressed with PR. Going on a Carnival cruise, I liked.

Beware of cruises that stop ANYWHERE outside the US. Even if you don't get off the ship you can still be in trouble. There are a lot of interesting and exotic places inside the US. If you just hint on what you consider exotic. Skiing in Alaska , white water rafting in the Grand Canyon ? A river cruise ?

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Come to Utah, she could learn to ski, see the red rock country, 5 national parks, short drive to Las Vegas, and lot's of spanish speakers!
