First you will get NOA1, after that you will get NOA2 ( Approval for I-130 )

After that, wait for NVC to generate the case number, then pay the fee for AOS & IV.

DS-230 is submitted by your father.

Please click on VJ " Guides " to get familiar with this process. :)

there is a way to get email notification.

click here - https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/selectusertype.jsp (register as a APPLICANT CUSTOMER)

or go here - https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/termsconditions.jsp?contextType=CU_EN

When the case is approved you will be notified by email.

The case will be transferred to the NVC which can take any where from 7-20 days on average.

The NVC will assign a case # which should be used on all corresponding to them

Since your father has a visa immediately available to him the NVC will start immediate processing.

About 3-7 days after the case number is assigned they will mail the petitioner/applicant the Agent of Choice Form or DS-3032. Which you will need to fill out and return OR email the request back to them. The request will be processed in about 1 week if sent by email. IF you choose to send the request by email follow the instructions below when it is time.

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/DS3032

After the DS-3032 comes the next two forms typically sent back to back on the same day. You will get the Affidavit OF Support And Immigrant Visa Fee Bills request from the NVC and Instructions on how to make payments. The A.O.S is $88.00 and the I.V. is $404 currently. You can pay the fees together or separably. After your payments have been received you will given your bascode sheets. The barcode sheets are used to ensure documents are being assigned correctly as it will have your case number assigned and keep errors at a min. See below for each of the noted sections below.. You can click on each item.

1. Affidavit OF Support

2. Immigrant Visa Application and Document Processing

After you have sent your documents off you can expect an interview assignment and you can help your father prepare for his interview by reading and following the instructions at the following link - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3731.html. Your father will be noticed about 30-45 days about the date of his interview. After the Visa Interview Approval he will be required to pay another small fee for the delivery of his Visa which on average may take 7-14 days. In rare cases IR5 cases may be placed in Admin. Process / AP. See the link here- > http://travel.state.gov/visa/a_zindex/a_zindex_4353.html Below you will see 2 links They are past post from members who have experience the AP issue first hand in the IR Category.

1. AP Case in 2010

2. Ap Case in Feb. 2012

After the visa is received the it will be valid 6 months from the date PRINTED in the document and your father must enter the USA prior to that date. He can depart the net day if he please but he must "check in"

Enjoy.
