Hello! i would like to get some opinion considering the proof of bona fide marriage that i have. I am so worried about the upcoming interview. We will have it in 4 weeks at the Denver office and we don't really have a lot  . We've been married for over 5 months. that's what we have:

1. Wedding pics and a nice picture book. (i do have pictures with my husband's family too)

2. Cards addressed to both of us.

3. Internet bills

4. Energy bills

5. Family phone plan

i guess that's about it. We don't have a joint bank account, because i didn't have a work permit, so i couldn't work and had nothing to deposit to the bank.

i also would like to know what you all think about the age gap. My husband is 12 years older than me. will it be "suspicious" to the IO? and we didn't date for a long time. we got married pretty fast after we met. but it's 100% real. i love him to the Moon and back. He thinks that if the marriage is real there is nothing to proof. But i know that it's not enough for the immigration. did anyone have this kind of experience? thanks! :)

That is sufficient. Of course your age gap is a red flag that they are trained to catch, but that is why you have evidence.

That is also why they will issue a two year card and not a ten one...that's what they do for newer marriages.

July 2006 - Married said love and moved to Canada.
June 2011 - Entered US to visit family, decided to stay.

Marriage certificate is the #1 item. We had nothing else when we interviewed in Denver. All she did was swear us in take copies of our IDs and began asking my wife the questions on the I-485 form like what is your name, DOB, what is your mother's name, where were you born, what is your SSN (as we had that filled in). As my wife answered each question the IO put a big red check by that information on the form. Then came the "Have you ever.." She then expalined that since we have been married less than two years my wife wil get a conditional GC. I would take anything that shows that both of you live at the same address. For us it was title to a car, that was all the joint stuff we had at that time besides my wife being on my retirement account as beneficiary and on my health insurance at work. We did also have last year's income tax return as we filed before filing AOS. Again she only looked at the Marriage Certificate.

Take the original marriage certificate and a copy as she looked at the original and kept another copy--not sure why but that was the only thing she looked at of what we brought with us.

You should be fine,

Good luck,

Dave

It will most probably be enough. If you have not been married for a long time, then you just cannot have a lot of evidence of your marriage, right?

At the same time, keep in mind that it is not only about documents, but you will also be interviewed. They will watch you interacting with each other, the way your answer questions, etc. Be prepared to explain why you do not have a joint bank account! The twelve years age difference is not too suspicious, but you may be asked questions about it - how you feel about it, what your parents think about it, etc.

Hope this helps.

Hello Sonechko.

I had a question. I have an interview coming on march 22nd. I did not receive no list of documents to bring...

Did you?

Hi! the list of necessary documents is on the appointment letter right below application number and address. It says who has to come with me and what items i have to bring.
