Proof of immigration status for UK visa

I'm thinking of applying for a visa for my wife to go with me to London now that she has been approved for permanent residency.

Does she have to send her green card with her visa application or is her Welcome to America Letter sufficient proof of status?

10/24/08: Received Interview Letter

12/08/08: Interview @ 1:00pm. APPROVED!

01/05/09: Oath Ceremony 10:00AM. Now officially a USC!!!

Yeah I looked at that page before posting this. The thing that got me wondering is that it lists the green card as an example of immigration status.

I suppose since she has to submit her original passport anyway, sending the green card with it isn't that big a deal. I think she's just a bit reluctant to surrender it to anyone so soon after getting it.

It turns out they don't accept an Welcome to America Letter and the I-551 for waiver of the DATV, so I'm guessing that they want the actual green card for the visit visa.

I can understand your wife's reluctance to send her gc in for the application. I'd be pretty reticent myself.
