Working while waiting for AOS and Work Permit?

My wife is waiting on her K1 AOS and we're hoping that her green card and work permit will be awarded soon. I have a small restaurant and my wife wants to help cook and serve people. Can she do this legally and assist me, without accepting any wages until her work permit/green card is approved? Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't see why not if she just wants to help out...not like she is going to be earning money. Don't think there is any restriction on volunteer work...?

You cannot volunteer for a job that would normally be paid without authorization. You cannot take a job for no pay that would normally go to someone else with pay. You cannot take a volunteer job on the promise to be paid in the future. There are restrictions on volunteer work.

You can volunteer in a "pure" volunteer capacity, say, at a soup kitchen or animal shelter. Those jobs are never paid and won't lead to a paid job.
