if you are a LPR permanent resident, then you can traval internationaly with no problem, just be sure that the name on the ticket matches the passport name,

The question isn't about the travel though, it is about a stop over in Japan. That is governed by citizenship, not residency, so if a Philipino citizen needs a tourist visa to visit Japan, she will need one.

This made me confused cuz my friend told me that I can go out the coutry cuz I am a permanent resident card holder of the USA and I am with my hubby too.

You can go out of the country, no problem there. Your greencard allows you to travel in and out of the USA. The issue is not you leaving or returning to the USA, the issue is you going to a third country (ie not your home country or the USA), in this case Japan. For this, the country of your citizenship matters, not the country of your residence/ the fact that you have a greencard. This is a good website to look up visa requirements: http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/plan_flight/international_travel_information/visa_passport_information/index.jsp

your friend toll you right that you can traval outside the usa with green card, if your philipno passport has your maiden name then the airline tickets should the same name, bring along your marriage certificate, to prove different names, pengin said you need a visa to traval to japan, check with the state dept about that,

You'll need to apply for a visa.

Japan is really strict with other countries different from VWP countries. My sister's husband works for continental airline, they flew back to Vietnam on standby tickets and they missed a flight from Japan to Vietnam when they laid over there, and you know what? They didn't even let my sister stay in the airport to wait for another flight; let alone go out and sight-see. They forced her to pay a ticket to either back to the US or to Vietnam right away. You need a visa to leave the airport.

I can tell you from personal experience that if your husband or wife is from a country that is not part of the Japanese visa waver program then you CANNOT enter the country with a US Green card. You will need visa or you will be detained and forced to buy a ticket back to your country of origin.

You can however transit in Japan with no problem, as long as you don't plan to leave the airport.

All correct. The OP has a one-day layover, which is going to be a problem if it includes an overnight stay. (I assume the flight is connecting at Narita.) There's no transit hotel (as in Singapore) or anywhere else to stay in the pre-immigration area overnight, unless something there has changed VERY recently.
