Greetings.

Our interview at the Montreal consulate is scheduled for 28 March. I'd like to re-schedule for any date before 12 October 2012. I keep hitting "reschedule", but nothing comes up. Would canceling this appt and entering the scheduling system work?

- I'm wondering if "reschedule" is just taking up someone else's canceled appt, and whether cancelling/scheduling would let me see more available dates.

Thoughts? Thanks!

I don't mind a later interview date - it would actually be beneficial if the date were farther back into August or September. Thanks!

You need to email Montreal and request it if you are looking to schedule something as specific as that.

Did you email the MTL consulate to reschedule your appointment and if so what was their response? I did the same but got a canned response back that they are committed to providing appointment time as quickly as possible. No mention that my appointment has been cancelled or not. I wonder if they'll mark me as a 'no show on my appointment date?

If you had no response and your interview date has already past it is highly likely you have been checked as no show and your case has been closed at the embassy for abandonment.

If you have had no response you should go online and cancel the appointment yourself and re-book it via the online appointment booking system.

Do CR-1 select their own dates online??? I thought only k1'ers did that?

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

CR-1 can cancel their dates online and select a new one, after one has already been booked for them. Not sure about before one has been booked.

My interview was scheduled by NVC so when I log in to the site, it shows I have no appointments scheduled. I believe you have schedule it online for the appointment to show up. My question is how do I cancel this appointment online? Is there a link I'm not seeing? Contacting the consulate via email Is no help as they just sent me a general response without confirming that the appointment had been cancelled.
