i waited 14 business days and received it in 7 calendar days.

going back tomorrow to grump them out about the name change.

When we went back to do the name change they told us that the marriage certificate wasn't good enough, we would need something to acknowledge the marriage from the USCIS. We applied for EAD so when it arrived we went back and they submitted the paperwork to change her name. About 6 weeks later the card came. Not sure why we applied for the EAD, Claudeth isn't too fond of working

after getting some advice from mdyoung, i went back as i had more than enough time on my 1-94 to do the name change. miss crabbypants did the name change, although not with a lot of grumbling. LOL

I was told / reading to wait a couple of weeks before applying.

Any Input?

YEs, the SSA officer told us that it will be good to apply after 10-15 days after your POE date. (to ensure your name in the DB)

We applied around 14 days after POE date and received the card 5 days later.

IT was a breeze..

My husband did his about a week after entering (although it was the Tuesday after a holiday and the wait in the office was a bit long.) He got his SS card about a week later, we were amazed.
