Hello, everyone.

I have a question concerning form DS-157 (Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application for Male applicant between 16 to 45 years old.)

Is it only for male applicant to fill out this form or shall I the female applicant need to fill out as well?

Thanks!

No, you should not complete it. Like it says, it's only for MALE applicants between 16 to 45 years old

Where on the DS-157 does it state MALE ? I know my FianceE completed one.

I think that this DOS link is where folks are getting the "male only" information. Is that still accurate?

Packet 3 instructions:

3. DS-157: All male applicants between 16 and 46 years must complete TWO (2) forms DS-157. Answer every question. If a question does not apply to you, you must reply with „not applicable‟ . If your children are applying for the visas with you, they must also complete the forms.

Hmmm.....

There seems to be a bit of confusion about this form.

The GUZ link (GUZ -consulate Guangzhou, China), only lists the form in several of their appointment packets, with no apparent mention of gender.

That letter does not say MALES only. I would look at the list of required documents from your embassy and complete ANY and ALL they have listed. I for sure would not want to show up at an interview missing a required form.

IF its not required by your embassy what are you out? A few minutes used to complete the form? Spent more time discussing it here then it would take to complete it.

I'm not sure how to attach the PDF here, so I uploaded it to my Gmail Docs. You should be able to see it by clicking here K1 K3 Instructions Packet

This packet was sent to me by the Embasy in Argentina on Feb. 15th

PS: Here in Argentina, if you forget to put anything in the packet when you send it back to the Embassy, when they email you assigning the interview, they highlight anything that might be missing... just so you can take it with you at the time of the interview. Since on MY instructions, it said it was for males only, I did not complete that form; and when they emailed me my interview date, they did not highlight it or request it.

Well in your packet they do make it specific to male. In the embassy info we got the ds-157 is simply listed as one more form to complete.

""c. DS-157 SUPPLEMENTAL NONIMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION. Each applicant must submit two (2) completed copies of this form. Download form at http://travel.state.gov/visa/forms/forms_1342.html. ""

I know the form itself makes NO reference to being for male applicants.

curious ~

Agreed, that is why I included the link to GUZ, the consulate that will process my fiancee's visa.

Gee, and one has to wonder why immigrants to our country get confused, seems to be consistently inconsistant.....lol.... I guess it isn't always one-size-fits-all....lol...

Sounds like another good reason to check with the processing consulate to be aware of their specific requirements.

Must be Embassy specific, then? blush.gif

PS: How do you attach a PDF!? headbonk.gif

Hmm, I usually try to highlight the site address at the top, cut and paste, using "insert link" icon in the forum text editor options.

Let's see if DS157 form show up.

Yep, that seems to work.... Does my "non-IT speak" make any sense to you.?
