I remember reading about them, but now I can't locate where I saw the information about Police certificates.

are they only required if there is something on the record? and at what point in the K1/AOS/GC process are they required, and to whom do they go?

Specifics: She is Thai and has lived there her whole life, she has never been arrested or anything.

I did find this info: so I know HOW to get it, but not sure if I NEED to get it. Thanks.

During K1. Before approval. After NOA2.

Your fiancee will be asked to submit forms and other documents, including a medical and police check. When asked complete these. You can get them before hand, but, things like medicals and police checks generally have an expiry and getting them too early may mean you have to do them / get them again.

Thanks! I knew about the Fiancee docs and medicals post NOA2 but wasn't sure police certificate was part of that. Now I see it on the DS-156K listed in K1 Visa forms section.

Police certificate will be include with Pack 3 but in the mean time that you have to wait for 15 days (working days)

you can sent package 3 without this form and present the original at the interview (I did this way)

And also you asked about Do we NEED it, I think yes...It is the one of the list on Pack 4.

this is the link from Pack 4 and you can see what they need.
