I hope your friend didn't reach out to ex-congressman Anthony Weiner? LOL hi hi hi if you know what I mean. If that was the case I could see what the congressman may want :-). Also please know the difference between the rep from a congress person and senator.

Apart from Joke, just wanted to remind you (and others) is that you are not asking for a favor, rather the senators are merely doing their Job. This is their responsibility to their constituents. Walk into their office and request them to launch an inquiry immediately. Take your case papers with you, if you are emailing scan the NOA2 approval and write down when case went there, when interview took place and these information. No one can do anything and if DOS does something on purpose, you can bite them back really hard. The embassy will treat the applicant mercilessly. And to the OP usually men goes on AP where as females rarely get in AP, hence your sister in laws got it quick.

 hellraiser is right....if you put together a simple outline of dates you filed, received NOA1, NOA2... interview date etc... and a simple summary of the interview that also helps them be able to make better inquiries on your behalf. I recently contacted my senator and congressman and did just that and even tho it hasn't done much to get the AP to finish it did help them to make better inquiries and ask the right questions instead of a generalized inquiry.

I didn't go meet them I called them their offices are not so close to me and I can't take off work and since my holidays are federal holidays off their offices are closed when I can go

I just called them and spoke with the person handling immigration told them our issue and gave them my email they sent a form for me to sign so I printed and faxed it back with our timeline and summary of interview

All they have been able to do is find out our case is fine and in normal processing and it's name checks but that was more than dos would tell us they can't make it finish but the embassy is aware another gov office is watching and waiting for the final results
