Hi

I am planning on filing this petition at the end of the month. I am in South Africa now but will be returning to NY at the end of the month.

My first question or thing I want to confirm is that I send my petition to this address?

If you live in the United States or abroad and are filing Form I-129F, then file your petition at:

For U.S. Postal Service:

USCIS

P.O. Box 660151

Dallas, TX 75266

OR

For Express mail and courier deliveries:

USCIS

Attn: I-129F

2501 South State Highway 121 Business

Suite 400

Lewisville, TX 75067

My second question is - when we fill our forms, I am planning on using my parent's address in NY which is my permanent address. I don't have a place of my own as I have been in SA for two years. I want to move, but it depends on where I find work. We are hoping California. So if I put my address in NY will it affect my application in anyway? Will we be able to move, etc? I really can't predict when it will happen but I want to send the petition asap and can't wait until I settle somewhere new. Is this okay?

Thank you!!

Yes, that is the correct address to use. They receive the petitions there but then they forward them to the appropriate Service Center for processing

and No you don't have to wait to settle down to file. USCIS offers ways to inform them of an address change. https://egov.uscis.g...i/go?action=coa

If your parent's address in NY is your permanent address then you again are correct in using it for this purpose. Again, you can always inform USCIS of your address change when you get one.

Sounds like you have a great handle on what to do! :)

Hope this helps!

Good Luck!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Please, if you haven't already, take a look at the guide http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide and bookmark it. Just follow the instructions, and you should be fine.

While moving it shouldn't be a problem, beware that they will, physically, move all the information you have sent ....So, there's always a really good chance some of your papers, if not all, could get lost..... So, to be on the safe side, make sure to make copies of the documentation you send.

Also, if you go from NY to CALI, that means your Service Center will change too; this could possibly set you back in time.... BUT you can always leave your parent's address, and just make sure that they let you know AS SOON as something in the mail arrives (if you get an RFE, you'll need to reply as soon as possible). If you don't get any RFE, as long as they keep the hard copies you'll get in the mail (cause you'll need them later) you should have NO problem whatsoever.

Hope this helps

That's what I was told when we were planning submitting our papers... there was a possibly to move and we were advised that if we moved to the other side of the US the petition would be processed by the other service center in California. If that's not true, then my apologies, I only said that based on our experience.

Don't know who told you that but I won't buy stock on their advice...

It was a friend of ours, who went through this process a few years ago. Maybe that's how it used to be back then? In the end, we did move; but it was sooner and closer than we thought.. so we just waited until we had the new address to send everything.. and it all worked out. blush.gif

Maybe he was, flat out, wrong too....
