OK, then I'm voting for TX--since that's the only state or province that's actually had the experience of being a separate country (and also because I like Dallas city personally).

not true.

Califoria was also a republic. Albeit temporarily. ;)

Wikipedia's Entry for California

Daniel

:energetic:

Um, the "Republic of California" only extended in Sonoma--for eight days(1845/06/15 - 1845/06/23). Never an official country. Quote below, from Wiki.

On June 15, 1846, some 30 non-Mexican settlers, mostly Americans, staged a revolt and seized the small Mexican garrison in Sonoma. They raised the "Bear Flag" of the California Republic over Sonoma. It lasted one week until the U.S. Army, led by Fremont, took over on June 23. The California state flag today is based on this original Bear Flag, and continues to contain the words "California Republic.

Republic of Texas, on the other hand lasted NINE YEARS (1836/03/02 - 1845/12/29), and covered all of current TX, and parts of present-day New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming--and DID have official status as a country.

So, I'm sticking to original "TX is only state or province which has been independent country".

It really depends on where you are in Canada.. Most of Canada (except for maybe the way northern parts) are not cold all year round.. Where I come from, and in many other parts of Canada it can get quite warm in the summer, and there are many parts of the US that get colder than parts of Canada.. Just depends on where you live in each country..
