Packet Help!

Hey guys!

You lot have been such a great help over the last few months, but I'm afraid I have to call on you again.

Just as we thought we were full steam ahead, we hit a block. We were approved early February and the petition was forwarded to Sydney. In the letter my fiancé received, it said I would 'shortly' receive a packet of information blah blah blah. It's now Match 8th and I still haven't got the packet. I've sent emails and I've called the consulate directly. Nothing but no replies and computer ladies leading me in circles.

To any Australians: Did it take a long time for Sydney to contact you? Does anyone have a solution?

Thank you again guys,

Lachlan

my USC fiance got actual letter dated Feb 14 as our NOA2 (I-797), then he got pkt 3 email on Feb 27 (when I called they said they sent it to Sydney on Feb 23). and he forwarded it to me.

You tried to call consulate Sydney? I think that number is not much help as you don't get to talk to any people, just machine give you standard info.

Best bet is email i suppose.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm going to try calling again tomorrow when their immigrant visa general inquiries office is open. Once a week for only 4 hours. Good on'em. They might respond to my emails then too.

I guess they've lost something, right? Why else would it be taking this long if it only took you a little over a week?

When did NVC actually send it on to Sydney though?

You've no timeline so correct me if i'm wrong, but you got your NOA2 early Feb, usually it will then spend a few weeks at NVC so they've probably only just sent it on to Sydney. The letter from NVC, when was it dated? I probably wouldn't be worrying yet, it took a couple of weeks after our petition left NVC before we got packet three and it was at NVC for a month too.

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013

The letter we got from the NVC is dated February 3rd.

I guess if ours was there a month too, Sydney would just have received it. Our partner and I must have got it in our head that it would have happened quicker. xD

Hmm... the NVC letter says that they received the approved petition Feb 3rd and that within the week they'd sent it to Sydney. Sydney obviously hasn't got it, maybe it never left the NVC?

Mind you, my fiancée actually got the letter almost two weeks after the NVC said they sent it. Maybe they're just really slow. :P

Bit dodgey, eh?

If I don't hear back from Sydney tomorrow, or I do with no information for me, I'll have to get the misses to call'em.

Have you called NVC to find out if they still have it? Maybe your security checks are taking a little longer? I know that's happened before.

I'm not exactly a terrorist. =P How could it be taking this long? But yeah, my fiancée is just a little bit pissed, so she's going to call. I feel sorry for the poor guy or girl going to answer her. xD

More problems.

My fiancee called the NVC and they said the information was forwarded to Sydney on the 8th of February with the WRONG email address. The NVC said call Sydney to change the email. I've called twice and both times different people have said to contact the NVC. >.<

About ready to shoot someone.

Send an email to Sydney with your details in the email (case number, and personal details). Let them know you have been in contact with the NVC who advised the email address was wrong but they couldn't change it. Request them to email you the packet again to the email address you are emailing them from. That should work. Be polite and respectful.

^ I have done that. I started doing that last week. I've sent emails to every email address I can find and I have not received a SINGLE reply. My fiancée contacted the NVC again and this time they supplied us with a new email address that wasn't on any of the sites. So it's all come down to this.
