You are going through the Consulate that deals with the most fraudulent cases and you ticked all the boxes.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Going over there requires a HUGE amount of money all at once, what I make in income qualified, so that isn't even a determining factor, in my opinion.

And as for where he lives, it doesn't matter. Love has no boundaries. This man, and I have to choose words carefully here, did not give my husband respect, for he laughed at him the moment he saw him and continued through the 5 minute interview.

That is good to hear.

I appreciate all your advices, but really this site has only sent me back into depression mode. Good luck to you all! As for me, I shall go back to relying on God to see this is done!

The advices are tough love. You can pray and have faith, but it takes action and astute thinking to overcome any obstacles encountered in this process. Apparently your relationship is the stereotype of most fraudulent cases. That's reality. The CO's job is to scan for those traits and make a decision based in the evidence presented. The CO is not a cupid. S/he is a US "ambassador" who's trained to protect us from scammers.

It is NOT your fault, nor his. What you should've done is figure out a way to overcome these issues. If you married in your only visit, if you're older than him and almost unable to have kids, if you never traveled again to see him nor he traveled to see you and if he said something that triggered a red flag you will be denied. That's how this usually works. No, it's not fair. I agree.

Good luck!

Don't ever do anything you're not willing to explain the paramedics.

Ok so u really need to make another visit. One visit is not good enough whereas you are husband and wife. Also you need to show proof of joint ownership if possible. Think of things that you could put his name on as well. They will send it back, and will ask for more proof. Get a joint bank account in his country if you could. If you could put him on your lease, insurance, benificiary would help as well. I am in contact with others on here where the ages are man 24 and wife 52 and another man 28 and wife 55?. USCIS is asking for more proof to make sure the relationship is bona fide. Most important please make sure your name has changed whereas you now carry your husbands last name. Hope some of this helps.

Going over there requires a HUGE amount of money

Maybe to cut cost you should shack up with your husband and hang out at very local places, that is, if your not doing that already. That way your visiting him but not at the price of a 'tourist' and so have more cash at your disposal for another trip.

At our interview, the IO misread my wife's birthday so he misunderstood she is older than me and he put us on the Stokes interview already, I had to correct him that she is younger than me and he changed the attitude easier alit bit right away. You can keep fighting but it is slim, this is not a discouragement but it is a fact. Sorry.

Btw, we saw 2 ICE officers escorting a white lady and an African gentleman to the fingerprint room when we were at the immigration.

This is excellent advice. Get to those red flags. Please do not give up hope. You know why? Because those of us like myself who have yet to file are in the same boat. I am 21 years older than my husband. So yes we have a BIG red flag. But we have been piling up the evidence to combat that. Also talking with lawyer he stated that my living with husband for 6 months in Nigeria trumps the age.

I know its costly but a trip is vital. I am sure 99.9% of folk here fall in the same boat that we don't just have free money laying around to make back and forth trips to our hunni's. But at least try to get there every 6 months to once a year is a must.

I have been back now 5 months after staying in Nigeria 6 months and know I have to get back there again before the interview whenever that may be (have to file first, be first get a job helpsmilie.gif)

So please take all the advice given. Build your case. Maybe get evidence presented and request a second interview at embassy before it heads back to the USCIS.

And smile, now is the time to get up and get going. It will be well and yes with God we can do anything.

Sorry for your denial and the lack of respect you feel was shown to your husband. Continue to build your relationship and save where you can whether you decide to reapply or plan another visit. Be persistent in your efforts and specific in your prayers. You can get through this.

Okay, we went through the proper channels, and he was denied. Why? The man interviewing him made it clear that our age difference was a problem. We are waiting the decision to see if we can appeal or if they will send it back themselves to be looked into again. So in the meantime, what are some things we should be doing?

Get an attorney for a reconsideration of decision cos US consulate don't appeal do appeal. The fact that you are married and you have bundle of prove to show for it.They can only delay your movement but your union is paramount.is your spouse still under the age bracket that can bear you kids?cos they consider that and believe an average African man will need kids in their union.i wish you the best.
