I was wondering if I will be needing a co-sponsor if my income is less about $900 for 3 household size (I’m a single mom) from the poverty guidelines??? I make about 23000/yr. will that be enough to sponsor my fiancé? I have child support for my son will that be included in my income lol thanks in advance :help:

i just file the I-129F and they received on march 2.

The longer it takes to happen the more you'll appreciate it when it does!

Here are some good Affidavit of Support Tips , found in the Guides tab, at the top of the forum webpage.

Also, here is a link to a recent thread with 2012 Poverty Guidelines .

Good luck on your visa journey.

I have that copy. But question is based on that poverty guideline my income is less $900/yr. will that be a problem? I mean my son received child support if I include that I will make more than the poverty guideline for 3 members household. Any ideas if that possible to include the child support for my income?

As mentioned in the Tips, "In general, if you are deficient on yearly income for sponsorship and your assets are somewhat borderline, do not take chances--have a co-sponsor."

Not sure if you saw this recent thread about Poverty Line Requirement .

Hopefully other forum member will respond regarding child support inclusion.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Alas, the lack of formatting in that post is throwing you off.

The first number, $19,090, is meeting the 100% poverty guideline. The second number, $23,862, is the 125% guideline. There isn't a range, you either meet the minimum number -- and it should be the 125% number -- or you don't.

You need to make at least 125% the amount listed for your household size and provide proof of the income.

You can also include child support (as per the I-864 instructions) if you provide evidence of it - such as a court order.

The amount for a household of 3 is $23,862. So if your income is $23,000 then you are a little short.

Can you have co-sponsor lined up just in case?

Child support is income to you, so it should be included.

If you don't make the 125% guideline for the total number of people then you will need a co-sponsor or assets equal to 3 times the shortage.

Hank_Amy,

Is it really only assets equal to 3x the amount of income you are short? That seems like not a lot of money. For example if they are short by $1000 would that mean they need $3000 OR 3x $23,862?

So when exactly should I provide that child support court order? should I wait for the immigration to let me know that I didn't meet the poverty guidelines or should I included it already on the folder(evidence/proof..such as tax return, w2, employmnt letter and etc.) I made for my fiancé? Now I’m total confused

Include when you send the other financial support information. Why delay the process when you already know you don't meet the guideline?
