Visa for Ireland from Thailand

Hi all

Was wondering if anyone had some information on how to get and the likelihood of getting a visa for my Thai girlfriend.

I live in Ireland and would like to have her stay permanently but would like her to see my country first so a visitor visa is required.

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

If she does not apply - nil.

Try boards.ie, they have lots of forums and you may find your answer there, this website is more for immigration to the USA.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

I actually have a friend in the UK with a Thai girlfriend - obviously a different country and consulate but I know he had a hard time with it. I would imagine Ireland might be easier but he had to provide a lot of evidence of their relationship, financial support, etc.

He got rejected the first time, went to Thailand and married her and then came back and was successful - they got a visitors visa initially, before applying for settlement she wanted to return to Thailand for a period.

She had a child, though and my friend is extremely disorganized - don't know if either of those two things made a difference but that was his experience.
