physical therapy sucks. I go in, able to walk a little bit, then suffer more pain whilst in therapy, and come out in a wheelchair. By the evening time, though, I'm able to hobble around with a crutch again.

I guess it'd be different if the PT order NOT include the word 'traction' . Traction really messes me up.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

When I had my shoulder problem, and I finally go to see the orthopedic surgeon, he told me, "Stop that physical therapy #######. It only makes things worse, and prolongs the healing." So I did, and he was right.

alas, the prescription for physical therapy came directly from the orthopedic surgeon. He's also the doctor has been seeing me from day 1 - I not go to a GP or a hospital or a clinic - I went straight to his office - it's huge, specializes in sports-related injuries . I hate mucking about with hospitals, gp's and incompetent folk - I went straight to the right guy the first time.

Traction is mondo suckage . It's tiered, though, so is less after some time.

I am now heavily leaning on 'getting the needles' with an accupuncturist, though, to relieve pain. It's useful, I've done it before for other stuff.

They got a formula now, that is enforced by the insurance companies for all stress injuries. First try NSAIDS. If that doesn't relieve the complaint, physical or occupational therapy. If that doesn't doesn't work, consult orthopedic specialist, that will first try NSAIDS again, and if unsuccessful, then one or two, or even three cortisone combination injections. Finally, consider surgery.

With my locked shoulder and after refusing the injections, the orthopedic surgeon suggested a rope and pulley at home. That finally broke the shoulder loose, and it healed quickly. For the wife and her trigger thumb, it only took one cortisone injection, after going through a month and a half of occupational therapy.

I not use insurance for this, so my path for getting the right human quickly was different. I did 20 minutes of research after the accident, found the fella, booked an immediate appointment for the next day.

It's weird - all of my employees are covered with a great medical insurance plan - I not use one at all. When my wife shows up past the POE, that'll change (we get full coverage on both of us), but I think I did the right thing hitting a specialist first.

After the MRI interpretation, he quickly surmised that I not need surgery. I was exceptionally lucky in that one regard, whoosh... My personal assistant comes by a few times a week and assists at the house, also a few hours on the weekend, and I brought in a cleaning crew last Thursday for a once over.

For now, my biggest hurdles seem to be - taking a bath, and rising up off the throne after a successful bowel movement. Everything else is manageable, even getting into the office and burning through 10 hours. My sales staff not need me for client face to face anymore, so that's a plus.

all n all, I've been exceptionally lucky, I'm just throwing some strain on other parts of my body, in an attempt to not put any weight on the strained part. And it really just turned out to be a strain, with some major tearing of the middle meniscus bits... Nothing with an acronym has been snipped, cut, ripped or torn...

Still hurts like a mother, though...

One of my partners at the office did mention - "hey - I was talking to a cancer patient last weekend - and he reminded me of two major types of pain - the pain of dying, and the pain of healing... Yer in the 'pain of healing' mode at the moment, so quit yer bitching, do yer exercises, and stay out of the way - we've got the business covered whilst yer swearing into yer coffee.. "
