I am a Naturalized US citizen, but my country does not provide English version of a birth certificate. My wife is the petitioner who applied for a green card based on marriage as I am a US citizen.

Finally, we got a letter for an interview. And the Interview Notice has a section "YOU MUST BRING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WITH YOU:." One of them is "Your spouse's (in this case, this is me) birth certificate." This caught me off guard. I never thought they will need my birth certificate as I am already a US citizen.

I am not sure if this is so important that I need to look for a certified translator. Does anyone know if USCIS will accept the translation done by myself?

Here is the accepted form to do what you need to do. Note the "certification" is simply the statement you see. Anyone including yourself can do the work if they meet the criteria below. This has been used many times & is accepted by USCIS.

Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

She isn't the petitioner, she's the applicant. Petitioner means something completely different. What visa is she AOSing from?

Vanessa&Tony, it is my mistake. I am the petitioner and my wife is the applicant.

Ning, I will translate it by myself and use that section you posted. Thank you for this.

What visa is she AOSing from?
