OMG ITS FINALLY HERE. Believe me when I say this, I have had dreams about this day. I received my NOA1 on 10/11/2011 and I just saw my online case status change to POST DECISION/APPROVED (03/06/2012)!!. It took just a little short of 5 months but hey, its here!

I basically have 2 questions and would love to see some answers from all you wonderful VJ'ers.

Question 1) I havent received the NOA2 in the mail yet (just online case status) so this question is really about the next step. I know the next step is NVC receipt of my fiancee's file. I have seen a lot of posts here about how people can track their case status on the NVC. Do I get a new receipt number to track my packet? How do I get this number? Does it come with the NOA2? (Sorry I am just very eager for the next steps)

Question 2) I was a fulltime student from 2006 to 2010. Even though I filed tax returns during those years, it was barely in the amounts of 1000-2000 /yr. After I graduated in 2010, I got my great fulltime job and I recently filed my last year's tax return (2011) which is in the lower six figures. My questions is, do I still need to provide the tax returns for the last 3 years or just the last year? Also, do I still need to get a letter from my employer with my salary, job titles, etc or is that optional? An finally, if the answer to the last sub-question is yes, does USCIS honor theworknumber.com employment verifications? I work for a huge company, and they only do theworknumber.com verification.

Thank you once again. I love this community and good luck to all those waiting for their NOA2's.

It looks like your fiance is from India, is this correct? Update your profile, it will help others assist you better.

Anything I respond with isn't India-centric, so it might not be totally accurate, but it is my second time through the K-1 process.

I would send your previous year's returns, along with an explanation letter about school. At the embassy, they can ask for anything and everything, so as far as "what will they require" it can be different in every case. If they are not comfortable with the first document(s) given, the can ask for more. So send everything you can get ahold of for the Affidavit of Support. Which means previous year's returns, with explanation, the employment letter you CAN get, bank statements, etc. Last year's return SHOULD be sufficient with the other documentation, but I don't know about India. Again, send everything you can get.

Not sure about question 1, other than the NVC will give you a visa case number, different from your petition receipt number. That is the one you will need for interview and fee payment, etc. You will get that number either when packet 3 arrives to your fiance, or by calling the NVC in a week or so to see if it's assigned.

Best of luck! and Congrats for making it this far.

Edit to add: If you update your profile to see your fiancee's country and post in that regional forum, you will get more specific help.

TOPIC on how to track your case.

It is best to send the last 3 years of tax returns. You must acquire a letter from your employer, however I am not sure about e-verify.
