To order tax returns from IRS will cost about 55 dollars each return

They are FREE. You do not pay for tax transcripts from the IRS.

It doesn't say that I have just one try for request of evidence.

I am telling you, you get ONE try. If you fail, your case risks denial.

They do not need to order tax returns. They need a copy of the transcripts and that is free.

Government asked for COMPLETE tax returns and W2's

I think they are questioning their income

Follow the instructions exactly and send the real tax returns

Good Luck

1. Submit a complete Federal Income Tax Return submitted to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) from the petitioner/sponsor on Form I-864, for the most recent tax year

2. The joint sponsor on Form I-864, must submit a complete Federal Income Tax Return submitted to the Internal Revenue Service (IRC) for the most recent tax year.

3. The joint sponsor on Form I-864, must submit all supporting tax documentation (W-2s, 1099s and all supporting tax schedules)submitted to the Internal Revenue Service for the most recent tax year

They are FREE. You do not pay for tax transcripts from the IRS.

Yes, tax transcripts are free. The government does not want transcripts. they want federal tax return and w2's and that costs money

I beleieve the turbo tax thing is good as long as you send W2's and the turbo tax is signed

I would probably order the free transcripts and send them also.

If you ever get asked for income proof in the future--always request the tax transcripts from www.irs.gov and you wll avoid alot of headaches later

Good Luck

You are still wrong, transcripts are free, and suitable for this purpose. Please concede to the senior members of this forum who have actually done Adjustment of Status.

Also, here is a recent example of someone who was denied for improperly responding to an RFE, for the same thing. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/355926-i485-denied-due-to-uscis-error/page__view__findpost__p__5203831

Did you read what they asked for? They asked for W2s, tax returns and all supporting evidence.

I was just helping him follow directions.

He already sent something they did not accept. Now they are probably questioning everyones income.

I am glad you have been through this. Did you send them something less then they asked when you got an RFE? or did you follow directions?

Please read my first post. This arguing is derailing the thread. A tax transcript includes everything in a complete tax return, and USCIS accepts this. A tax transcript at this point is the best guarantee to properly respond to the RFE, because he is an immigrant and doesn't understand all of the parts in his mother-in-law's tax return, which is completely understandable. If he misses "schedule M" or something, he will be denied.

Hello. Today I received a request for initial evidence (I-485). And here's what is says:

3. The joint sponsor on Form I-864, must submit all supporting tax documentation (W-2s, 1099s and all supporting tax schedules)submitted to the Internal Revenue Service for the most recent tax year.

I sent them:

1. Copy of Form W-2 Wage and Tax Statement for 2009 tax year (only joint sponsor)

2. Copy of Form W-2 Wage and Tax Statement for 2010 tax year (lawful wife)

3. Copy of Form W-2 Wage and Tax Statement for 2010 tax year (only joint sponsor)

4. Copy of Form W-2 Wage and Tax Statement for 2011 tax year (only joint sponsor)

5. Copy of Federal Tax Return for 2011 tax year (only joint sponsor)

6. Copy of IRS Tax Form 1098-T for 2011 tax year (lawful wife)

I'm confused. I sent them everything they wanted. Is there a difference between the tax statement and the tax return submitted to the (IRS). How should I obtain the Federal Income tax return submitted to the IRS?

They want Tax Transcripts first...Call IRS... they are free....If you cant than next best thing is copy of original W2 your employer gave you.... Make sure affidavit of support was signed by all sponsors.. If joint sponsor has spouse they have to sign and show ID also. Hope this was helpful

Oh come one, you need TAX TRANSCRIPT! VIVA TAX TRANSCRIPT! Tax Transcript overrides all other tax documents. Instructions state you don't have to send tax supporting documents when you have Tax Transcript! VIVA TAX TRANSCRIPT! Period! Thank you.

They asked me exactly same thing. My father in laws tax file is a DICTIONARY! I ordered tax transcripts total 10 pages! Instructions do state you don't have to send W2s, tax returns, supporting document if you have tax transcript. Please read it.

If you read my first post it clearly states that they want complete Federal Tax Return. I don't know if there's a difference between what I have and the tax transcripts. That's why I'm posting the whole content of the document I have. Supposedly the tax return.

Tax Transcript lists everything the sponsor has filed that year, not in detail it is like a list with forms/schedules and number. You need tax transcript. And please read the I-864 instructions again.

**** Here is the instruction ****

You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years.

If you provide a photocopy of your tax return(s), you must include a copy of each and every FormW-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your return(s). Do not include copies of these Forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your return(s) rather than a photocopy.
