Now that the process is over

As I mentioned in another topic thanking others for all their support- my Husband arrived a week ago. My only question now is- what's next for our CR-1 process? He has a decal in his passport so I assume now he will wait for his greencard? His little stamp in his passport says it would expire until it is "endorsed".

I assume this was the amount of time he had to enter the states since now he entered and has a stamp and went through the whole process of entering the states. (We have been married for 2 years so I figured we don't have to adjust anything) I wanted to get him a social security card, all that.

Suggestions, Advice, etc.? =)

Together since 5-23-2002

Engaged 8-27-2008

Married 1-1-2010

Process began 9-1-2010

In my arms 2-28-2012

Removal of conditions happens in 2 years. Time to research now and get a box to save papers.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

We applied for a SSN when we filed our original CR-1 application and it never came.......just go ahead and go to your local SSA office and you'll have one within a couple of weeks. Then get started with your new life.....with your stamped visa and ssn he will be able to get a drivers license and start work....so it's job search time.

In about 21 months (90 days before the 2 year anniversary of your arrival) you'll need to submit the I-751 form to remove conditions on his visa....until then, enjoy your new life....just remember to build evidence as you go along to help with you I-751

Is your visa CR-1 or IR-1??

Luni, did your husband mention at the POE that he was married for over 2 years?

We filed a CR-1, yes.

Our 2nd anniversary was Jan 1st. Unless they asked him at the gate, I don't think my Husband would've thought to say it.

Prior to his POE, the Montreal embassy sent him his passport back and it has a little pasted in visa. It has our Case number, a Registration number (I'm not sure what that is. I assume it's an alien registration number?)

below all that it then has a IV Issue Date and an IV Expiration date and says "Upon Endorcement serves as a temorary I-551 Evidencing permanent resistant for 1 year".

Then of course, it has his US Entry stamp saying he was admitted on top of that visa.

I assume he will get his green card in the mail within a few weeks and if it's not a 10 year visa, I can call them up and let them know we already were married for 2 years?

a few weeks is optimistic.....it may be worth putting in a call before the process is complete, it may make it easier to make a change to your case if neccessary.

I would wait 10 days to go to the SS office. We went the Monday after my husband arrived, 4 1/2 weeks later no SSN, but he did get his permanent residency card (GC) already! After 10 days he should be in the system, and they won't need to waste time verifying information.
