For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State.

My son's I-130 was just approved, the above was stated on the approval notice. So does this actually go to the NVC, or the Dept. of State? Why does it say that?

Thanks

Mine too (approved 03-02-2012). I scratched my head over that one. I thought they were one and the same.

Is your son under 18yrs old? Mine is 16yrs old. Please keep in touch.

beacause it is a general statement, the i130 can go either way depending on what petition it is, everyone receives a reply like that.

in your case, the i130 will go to the NVC if your son is in his country and will be going through consular processing.

Yes, he's still in Canada until June. So do you mean he will have to do the same as I did? Medical in Toronto, interview in Montreal??

Hey tri_gear, I asked a question here on VJ previously but I got conflicting answers. Since our sons are minor children, as in they are still dependent, I am assuming that they would not go through the choice of agent process that our spouses previously went through.

It does not make sense to me that a child would be asked to do that. Do you know what we should anticipate will be the next step at NVC. Some reports have said that once the NVC issues a case number, the file is straight-away sent to the consulate for further processing. Others responded by sending me a link of the NVC flow chart that clearly was marked for IR1/CR1 process (referencing alien spouses). I could not find anything specific to IR-2 (referencing minor children). Your thoughts on this is welcome.

My thoughts are surely to god others have gone through this process here on VJ and can shed some light on this situation. I just want to make sure I have the proper paper work prepared, $$ etc..I'd like to at least have a idea on what I should be doing right now..(other than waiting for the paper work with instructions in the mail)

I've been hoping for the same from others who have gone through the same thing. It seems to me that the majority of VJers are bringing spouses or spouses and their children in the same petition. I have seen only one other who is bringing a daughter in an individual petition and they sent their app after mine. I have not seen stand-alone petitions for children (under 18yrs old) on VJ.
