Help with voluntary deportation/removal.

I have decided to leave my abusive wife and move back home. She is refusing to do any treatment (her friend a therapist says that she should see a psychiatrist). I would like to call immigration and ask them to put me in removal proceedings. I don't have any money and can't get any.

I am wondering if anyone else has gone through removal proceedings and what exactly happens.

1) Do they come and pick you up straight away?

2) Are you allowed to bring a suitcase or any personal belongings?

3) How long does it take from taking you into custody to flying you back home.

4) What is the detention place like?

Please don't do that call your embassy here in the states and ask for assistance in getting back home. ICE deportation could take months and you could be sitting in a detention center.

You only need a one-way ticket.

My husband was removed from the United States about 15

years ago. He had to sit in an ICE detention center

somewhere in Los Angeles, CA for 30 days while the US

and UK sorted out his situation and travel documents,

then he got to fly.

He told me the detention center wasn't too bad. He got

to know the guards and they gave him cigarettes.

Of course, the situation that got him to the 'removal'

stage was quite different from yours.

Just call your embassy and ask them for help, don't get involved with removal proceedings.
