The CR-1 gives you ability to work in the USA on entry. The K-1 you have to AOS and that takes about 4 months to get an EAD.

You are not required to marry in Canada. You can travel to the USA get married and go back to Canada and file the CR-1 petition.

That's cool, and would totally work for some folks - it's just a question of timing and preference on our part: We'd like to marry in November, and then stay. We can handle the 3/4 month wait for EAD as we intend to travel for a bit after the wedding.

That's exactly what we were thinking of doing, but the visas and stamps in my fiancee's (US citizen) passport will make it clear she's in Canada. That might not be a problem, but I wanted to be sure. I still do in fact :-)

yes, my stamps in my passport made it very clear that i was here also. i had no problems. i can't say that no one else will. just my experience. living here and being able to be with my fiance every day is great and i would never give that up...although it is becoming harder and harder to prove a bonafide relationship because we don't have phone bills and our e-mails are very few. we do have some cards and letters and TONS of photos. we have tons of people who work here with us that are willing to write an affidavit for us. hope that is enough! any suggestions for things you might be using?

... any suggestions for things you might be using?

Photos from various trips, a link to my public Flickr page, our joint tenancy agreement and finally a photo of us with a printout of the Super Tuesday results to prove we've been together recently. That one had the engagement ring in it too. Phone bills, letters and emails don't really work for us since we live together.

And for the original question: We both used our Canadian address in the end - seemed more honest. Hopefully won't lead to immediate rejection, watch this space...
