The Ole' Daisy B.B. gun was the starting point for many boys, then you graduated up to the pellet gun as you got older.

When my nephews hit age 4 I got them the short version of the Daisy Red Rider and had the trophy shop engrave their name and birthday on a metal cut out, and then super glued it to the side of the stock. Those kids went ape with those guns (which are kept at my parents), but then they got sneaky and started shooting squirrels in their grandparents back yard when nobody was around. They lost their gun rights for awhile after that one.

Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

There was a time when we were playing baseball in the front yard, I was probably 13 or 14, and a few of the younger kids came over. One was very young about 4 or so and bit messed up. He would brag that he had sex with his girlfriend etc. Anyway, we weren't paying attention close attention to him and he randomly wandered into my house....where he proceeded to the back room, where he opened a drawer and retrieved a pistol. He accidently shot himself in the head.

Just kidding. My mom had a rule about keeping ammo separate from firearms. So instead he was just waving it around going bang bang. Needless to say he scared the ####### out of my friend who assumed it might be loaded (rightly so).

Well when I grew up every family had weapons and we all had the same weapons and it was natural. Us Kids knew to never touch the guns unless adults were involved. They were usually unloaded in the gun closet. There were of course the Bedside handgun and one in the kitchen somewhere. Never touched them. We had our Daisy and sometimes us kids would go get them after telling whatever parent and go 'hunting'. Couldn't imagine a world this wasn't done also.

Better have moved up to the pellet by the time one is 10 because the .22/410 over and under came fast. Had to be ready to hunt by start of teens at the latest.

Cabela's sells pellet guns that shoot something like 1300 fps. I mean those things are flat out wicked. If you want to have fun, chum the seagulls to your front yard with a loaf of bread, slide open the window and let me have it.

You think like my brother...hahaha! He has one of those screaming pellet guns to keep a certain type of animal out of his yard. Sliding the window open is exactly what he does.

Yeah the B.B. and pellet guns came before age 12. After that, you're right, you moved up to the .22 and /410. Then at 16-18 and beyond, you got the 30-30, .30-06 and .243, now that you maybe had a regular after school job or summer job.

Then it is about this time you discovered girls and lost your mind then put the rifles in the closet.

Bremerton School Shooting: 9-Year-Old Boy Tells Court, 'I'm Sorry'

The 9-year-old boy who took a handgun to school that accidentally discharged, seriously injuring a third grade classmate, told a Washington court, "I'm sorry," after pleading guilty to three criminal charges, the Seattle Times reports.

The third-grader, who attended the Armin Jahr Elementary School in Bremerton, pleaded guilty to possession of a gun, bringing a dangerous weapon to school, and reckless endangerment.

The paper reports that under a plea agreement, the boy will be required to complete 48 hours of community service, before serving 12 months of probation.

On Feb. 22, the child carried a .45 caliber handgun to school in his backpack, according to police, the Associated Press reports.

The gun accidentally fired after the boy slammed the backpack down. Amina Kocer-Bowman, an 8-year-old classmate, was shot. She remains in serious condition after five surgeries, and is now on a ventilator to help her breathe, according to HeraldNet.

Your first reponse about the typo was more effective if it is meant to be some attack on our rights.

Owning firearms is our right, it is not debatable.

If some people do not know how to do that responsibly then it is the responsibility of our schools to teach it starting in kindergarten. They are expected to teach sex education to prevent STDs and pregnancy, they are expected to teach drivers ed to prevent car accidents, we have the DARE program to prevent drug and alcohol abuse and it is damned well time we start teaching our children about firearms safety and responsibility in schools. Education works to reduce accidents and tradgedies.

Many states already have firearms training in schools and I am pleased to say that our very Liberal Democrat Governor who is also a lifelong hunter and firearms enthusiast has expanded hunter education and firearms safety training in Vermont schools. We have a very low crime rate AND a very low accident rate BECAUSE of responsible firearms ownership and he wishes to keep it that way.

My first gun was a single shot 12ga. I think I was 12 years old. After that I got a .22LR plinker and a few years later, a pump 12ga.

Once I started buying my own guns I bought a Mini-14 and a .380 pistol. Since then I've bought and sold, traded, etc., several guns. But, I still have those first three and I always will.

We didn't have anything firearms related. Heaven forbid we teach kids to safely handle firearms.

Instead, we had archery in gym class. It's still possible to teach the fundamentals of marksmanship on a bow. A couple years ago they phased out the archery. Seems it's too violent. Our park service (we have an AWESOME set of parks here in Cincinnati) still taught archery until last year. Then, even they had to stop. Parents didn't like their children being taught to be killers.

It's ironic too because these are inner-city kids who grow up around crime and guns. Yet when they go to summer camp we're not allowed to teach them basic safety because it's too dangerous. Gotta love the democrats!

Unless you spook quail, they pretty much just stick to the ground. The ones back home would run in and out of the sticker bushes (black berry bushes) and they weren't all that tough to shoot.

Now we have spruce hen up here (ptarmigan) that you can literally kill with rocks. Those birds are as dumb as it gets.

The first gun given to me by my father was an single shot 12ga. Now resting and rusting at the bottom of a creek, thanks to my brother.
