This decision will not be appealed and will be left to stand. Maryland will have to go to a non-discretionary concealed carry license. Challenging it further would take it to a court that would affect New York, or worse, the Supremem Court, and that cannot be allowed. This case will be used as a basis for other cases and the racist provision of having to "prove you need protection" will be eliminated and ALL law abiding people even in California, will be able to carry concealed if they want.

Good news? Maryland can expect a reduction in crime.

These adult US citizens can be drafted or made to serve jury duty and decide the fate of their fellow citizens, but cannot buy a handgun. If it is a right, it cannot be denied to adult Americans.

Exactly. Very strong decision. And proper of course. What other individual right do we then need to ask permission to exercise?

This ruling affects only Maryland right now but if someother states Attorneys General don;t get the hint, they will. Appealing it to the Federal Appeals Court will cause it to be apploed to several other states and how is an appeals court going to overturn this when SCOTUS has already ruled it is an individual right and that it applies to states and cities as well? If the appeals court DID overturn it you could expect the Supreme Court to overtunr it following their previous decisions, none of that is a good way to go for the racists wishing to take away our civil rights

I agree with you that elections have perhaps the most profound and long lasting effects in the realm of court appointments. Take some relief that the SCOTUS very rarely (if ever) overturns a previous Supreme Court ruling. It is very unlikely they even consider a case to overturn a previous ruling. Roe v. Wade, easily the most controversial ever and a perennial election issue has stood for nearly 40 years already, through 8 Presidents and 3 Chief Justices. Settled law.

Heller and McDonald were huge decisions, not so much for what they were themselves but for the foundation to build on. Huge.

If you are not NRA members, please join. I have followed this now for years and their plan is very logical and has a distinct order to achieve the goals we want. As each domino falls you want it to trip as many other dominoes as possible. This easily sets up the court requirement that all states accept concealed carry permits of other states under the "full faith and credit" clause of the constitution. The case which is winding its way through the courts regarding the age of firearms purchases addresses it as an "arbitrary" restriction. The case is so worded that a favorable ruling will strike down any state "Assault Weapons" bans also as arbitrary and without merit for banning cosmetic features.

Given the Heller and McDonald rulings, it is going to be easier to gain victories at lower level courts. This is good and bad. Bad that it affects only the jurisdiction of that court, but good in that it sets Federal precedent to pursue other cases in other states.

Since we have already whittled the number of racist anti-civil rights states to a very few...hehehehehe
